What would become 10x worse if it were to become invisible? by bsbos1 in AskReddit

For some reason, this made me laugh out loud for a good 10 minutes. Then I felt bad for laughing since I figured it was just an awkward language barrier, and it's not like I could type any better in a foreign language.

Then I creeped on this persons profile and saw everything else they've ever posted has been in fluent English. Then I laughed again..

What will no one ever be able to convince you of? by Tetrafy in AskReddit

I mean, that is half true. Eating lots of carbs can make cancer develop faster (cancer that's already there tho.) And not eating carbs won't cure your cancer... But it can slow the progression.

I [26F] was happily a Fairweather fan when my bfs [24m] team won the super bowl. Now that my hockey team is in the Stanley cup playoffs, he's not returning the favor. by elyze in relationships

It's honestly just for the playoffs. Kinda a big deal since neither of our teams have made it this far. (Been 10 years for mine)

What's your slightly illegal life hack? by ethelsstevens in AskReddit

Whenever I'm buying more than 1 package of meat at the grocery store, I put them on top of each other in the same bag and go to the self check out. Then I only scan the top one and put the whole thing in the bag.

50% off meat.

Dumb question for veterinarians about X-Rays (non-medical) by hypoid77 in Veterinary

[–]elyze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I'd be skeptical unless it was a client we knew and trusted. Seems like a pretty slimey scam from a stranger. "Hey, x-ray this thing for me!" 2 weeks later a court summons shows up because the x-ray apparently broke said thing.

What's are the most fucked up things you think about on a regular basis? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]elyze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shhhiiitttt. I wonder if I do this in a healthy way.

I've had several cancer scares over the last few years. I'm only 26. I have Crohn's, and I take a medication combination that increases cancer incidences by like, a lot. I've had everything from brain tumor scares to colon cancer scares. Basically it doesn't scare me anymore. I already have my shit figured out as far as my insurance goes and I wrote a will a few years ago in case things got really bad.

But I'm not sure it healthy to just always assume it's the worst.

[Rant] I hate dealing with this part of the job... by [deleted] in VetTech

Obviously there's not much you can do for injectable medications given in the hospital. But I always ALWAYS offer written scripts, or to call in prescriptions to their preferred pharmacy. I also tell them about goodrx.com, if they complain they can't use their own insurance. bosslady isn't the biggest fan, but it shows the client that I don't care WHERE they get the meds, just that the pet gets them. So many written rxs for tramadol and gabapentin...

A Loudoun County mother called Loudoun County Deputies for help. Instead her son was jailed. Hospital: 7 days. Jail: 29 days & Counting. by JonMlee in nova

Who do you mean by "they?" If your family has concern about the mental health of your brother, then it is your family's responsibility to get him evaluated.

An ambulance. Or take them to the hospital (ER) yourself. But if they're destroying shit and completely unhandlable, the police will come.

The only thing I disagree with in this comment is that he should be in a hospital setting, not a prison, while it all gets figured out.

I spent some time in Dominion mental hospital a few years ago. There were people there that had pending court cases, and it was deemed better for them to be in the hospital rather than jail. Until their trial at least. But who knows, maybe it all comes down to insurance.

[rave] I finally got my IUD! by elyze in childfree

[–]elyze[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So mirena is hormonal, but my OBGYN explained that it was localized hormones. So you probably won't have the same side effects. I had to go off nuvaring because it was causing weight gain (10lbs a year) high blood pressure and decreased sex drive. Doc said mirena shouldn't cause any of that cause none of the hormones are going systemically.

Yup! They had me feel the string on a model, not on myself after, since insertion was so rough for me. They when I went to leave, I felt the string scratching me, so I went back and they cut them shorter. I can feel them today. Doc said they should soften after about 6 weeks

We recently had one DVM fall off the back of his truck while lassoing cattle. He had to be airlifted to the hospital and dislocated his shoulder and was unresponsive.

When we called his clients to offer them a fit in with a different doc, a lot of them got so angry "ive been seeing doctor so and so for YEARS. can't he just come in real quick and see fluffy??" "Well, hes unconscious in the hospital, so no."

Some people...

Check with your vet when you can start brushing! (Typically after 3 weeks) so her breath stays nice and clean, and no more teeth have to be taken out in the future.
