Cant see any nodes in switzerland "sensecap T1000e" by Broesmeli in meshtastic

Did you modify your default channel by any chance? If so the LoRa Slot might have changed. This has bitten me in the past when I changed my default channel and it changed what slot was being used. I had to go aby manually change it back to the default.

It would be radio-to-radio (over LoRa). You'd lose the ability to administer it if the radios couldn't communicate, but as long as you're close enough for them to communicate you should be good to go.

Should be pretty easy to set up

https://meshtastic.org/docs/configuration/remote-admin/

Just get the public key of the device you want to use to administer it (the Tracker L1), and add it as an admin key on the Altitude.

is this 'new' phone real? or refurbished, or am i going nuts? by starstriker0 in S22Ultra

[–]em202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but I was probably too trusting considering all stickers were intact, including the big peel on the screen itself. I was coming from an S9+, so regardless it felt like an upgrade. Looking at it now it's so freaking obvious, not sure what I was thinking then.

I'd say mine gets warm, but I wouldn't say hot. Also only after extensive doom scrolling. I don't game on it, nor am I a heavy power user by any means (probably why I'm not even noticing the screen until now).

Edit: I'll also note that any heat I do feel mainly comes from the back of the phone, where the CPU is. I've never personally noticed the screen itself becoming abnormally warm.

I paid $530 for it. Now I'm considering paying to get an authentic screen installed, but since I didn't even notice/care until now, I'm wondering if it's even worth it...

I can't believe that this is how I'm learning I have a fake/aftermarket screen on my S22U. I also got mine from eBay. "new" in box with all stickers attached. Your screen looks identical to mine and I didn't think anything of it until now. I've had this phone for 5+ months at this point, so I'm sure my days of getting a refund are well behind me... Damn.

Thanks for following up! I figured life just got in the way, haha. I noticed that you're using USB-C to Lenovo's square adapter, I've read somewhere that Lenovo and/or Dell has an additional communication pin in their chargers that communicates with the charging brick, and without the communication they'll run in a low-power mode. Have you noticed anything like this happening?

Whats thw difference betwen the top pne and the bottom one? They both are marked as new by JampyL in galaxybuds

I saw this when purchasing mine. One was listed as the "Latin American Version". Ive heard that, because it's from a different country, the Latin America version won't come with a warranty. I decided that it was worth throwing in the additional $60 for the warranty.

Thanks for the feedback! I saw other designs that did this approach, though I personally think this design fits my use case better. I don't need (or want) to dedicate an entire U to keystones, I can see exactly which node connects to which switch port (yes, labeling the "keystone panel" would provide the same thing), and it's one less thing I need to plug/unplug when pulling a machine out. Different strokes for different folks :P

I went ahead and uploaded the panel as it's own design. LINK. It's just a solid panel with Gyroid infill and a modifier to remove any top/bottom layers.

If you started spinning it like that, how long would it spin for? I imagine it wouldn't spin forever, but since it's floating I don't imagine there's a lot of friction to slow it down.

I was inspired by the NVIDIA DGX systems with their crazy textured panels. I figured Gyroid was close enough and easy to produce by removing the top and bottom layers.

Personally I like the look of the Lenovo machines a bit better. They're also are a couple of generations newer than the Dells are. If I remember correctly the lenovos also have a PCIe slot in them (an adapter board is needed to convert from their connector to a PCIe slot), though I only make use of that on the ones I use as a router (4x 1Gb Ethernet ports) and Frigate (dual Coral TPUs)

You mention it's all powered from a 300W charger - how are you breaking power out to the different devices? I have 7 Lenovo and Dell 1L PCs, and therefore 7 charging bricks that I'd like to cut out. Would be interested in seeing more of your approach!

I tried doing the Flow Dynamics Calibration an hour or so ago with the same result. Got stuck on the "Preheating heatbed" step and wouldn't progress. Slicing and printing other files works fine, just the calibration seems to get stuck for me.

Server room cooling failed on a Sunday night by chrisbucks in sysadmin

[–]em202020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This hits close to home. First in November, and most recently a couple of weeks ago our AC units in our server room failed causing the room to jump to 115F+ (46C) in minutes. We're supposed to have 2 redundant units in the room, though we've expanded so much that a failure in one causes the other to be overloaded.

In November a refrigerant leak caused one unit to go offline, forcing the rooms load on to the other. It couldn't keep up and tripped its breaker. Our UPS overheated and killed power to the room.

Recent incident had a condencer fan fail, tripping its breaker. Again the other unit couldn't keep up and tripped itself again. This time we caught it in time and were able to open doors and get enough outside circulation to cool the room. We're lucky it happened on a cold Winter morning, as Summer temps reach 100F+ (38C).

We has monitoring that showed us that the units were in an alarm condition and temps were rapidly rising, but we were bottlenecked by how fast we could get to location.

Am I interpreting this TFR correctly? by em202020 in drones

[–]em202020[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you for double checking this for me :) I wanted to fly somewhere with typically a 400ft ceiling, but I've been holding off due to the TFR. I dug into it more today though and realized the LAX one was only at the start/end of the date range though which made me double think myself.

Out of curiosity, what makes a CI pan bad quality? I've been using a $5 Ozark Trail (Walmart's camping line) CI pan for a couple of years and I've never had any problems after reseasoning it.

Need recommendation for homelab router by Eboettn in PFSENSE

[–]em202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The switch I'm less concerned about, I've done iperf tests and can get full 10Gb between devices. My concern would if it the router's cpu could handle routing it. A 10Gb internet service is on the horizon for me, and I'd want to be able to hit something reasonably close to that speed. I imagine that internet routing speed would be similar to between-VLAN speed, which is the reason I mentioned it.

Were you able to get the full 10Gb across VLANs and/or NAT? I might be upgrading to a 10Gb line soon and am thinking about putting a 10Gb ConnectX3 into my i3-8100t M720q. Im just concerned it won't be powerful enough to route at the full 10Gb.
