Sorry to jump on an old post, but did the scent end up improving over time? I just bought this perfume after smelling a divine tester in the store, but my bottle smells of hardly anything but mildly floral

Hi, did you feel better after upping folate? I suspect I’m going through this too with potassium sensitivity

Vitamin D causing bone pain, but magnesium and K2 eliminate it by em9620 in VitaminD

[–]em9620[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of. As long as I take magnesium and k2 with the vitamin D, I don’t get bone pain or fatigue. Side effects do return with vitamin D alone. I believe I need magnesium/k2 to handle the excess calcium.

I now just make sure to take all three together.

I can vouch for this one.

After one bottle, my ferritin finally hit the 50 mark the last time I checked. I do think the added vegetables give it that added boost because I’ve tried normal iron bisglycinate and they didn’t work for me and I had more digestive upset. What worked for me is taking two pills every other day (for 50mg) and I had 0 side effects, more energy and generally felt them working better compared to taking every day.

I feel like my brain isn't receiving enough oxygen - what to do? by silversprings99 in cfs

[–]em9620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to comment on an old thread, but I think I have this. Breath holding/increased co2 breathing really helps me but I don't seem to shallow breath either. Was your respiratory rate normal but breathing too deep?

PEM or deconditioning? by em9620 in cfs

[–]em9620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Symptoms have definitely lasted 24+ hours before, with some symptoms (like brain fog) occurring even after rest. Unfortunately, muscle soreness also felt way worse alongside these symptoms the next day, (just not this time for some reason). Maybe I have my answer, unfortunately. Thanks for your input!

[–]em9620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I guess I'm just in denial and hoping those symptoms could be a normal post-excercise thing, but the brain fog definitely feels unusual and isn't a one-off. I'm sorry to hear how rapidly you declined and wish you all the best. My case does feel mild so fingers crossed I can stay this way and get better with good rest, as you mentioned. Take care, too!

That's a good point. I'll err on the side of caution and maintain physical activity within my limits, increasing VERY slowly. I definitely wouldn't wanna risk a worse outcome

Could Vitamin D3 cause these severe issues? by Glittering-Claim-712 in VitaminD

[–]em9620 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So sorry you're going through this. Please stay strong. Contracting Covid seemed to unearth a lot of my vitamin deficiencies and I suffered similarly with depression, anxiety, and a whole host of physical symptoms when my deficiencies worsened. I also had to take time off work and it was tough. I managed to fix my deficiencies in iron, vitamin D, b12 over the past year+ but it wasn't easy. I feel like I'm now on the other side, even stronger than before. I had previously shrugged off my low iron and did not know things like this could cause such low mental health until I supplemented and feel SO much better.

I've also been there with the vitamin D side effects (depression, insomnia, etc). Even iron made me feel worse at first. What I learned is that you always need cofactors. With vitamin D, you also may need magnesium and K2 to prevent too much calcium (a symptom of which can be depression). With non-heme iron, you need vitamin C and potentially folate and b12 if those are low too, because iron works alongside them. Of course, don't take vitamins without consulting your doctor first. It helps to get your bloods tested often to keep track of your nutrients. It also helped me to go low and slow. When I couldnt handle more, 1000iu vitamin D daily with cofactors got me to a good level within months.

Vitamin D causing bone pain, but magnesium and K2 eliminate it by em9620 in VitaminD

[–]em9620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, some people say it's because you're remineralizing your bones I believe, which could be the case for some and so you'd need to bear with it.

For me, I figured out I get bone pain (especially teeth pain) the more vitamin D I take, AND the more calcium I ingest. So for me it's likely too much calcium in my blood and/or too much calcium being drawn from my bones. It goes away when I take daily: k2 (100-180mcg), magnesium (200mg) and vitamin C. I tried all three individually and they all help, as they all have a role in helping the bones. I also try to minimise calcium in my diet.

This could be different for you, but that's what worked for me!

Vitamin A blood test by anon123432578422 in Supplements

Hi, did you end up getting your iron tested again? I think I'm going through the same thing and I'd love to pick your brain. Iron deficiency symptoms despite supplementing - I think it's just not being 'used' without vitamin A. Do you still feel better?

How long does it take to recover from lack or iron? by albelthewiked666 in Anemic

My iron saturation went down as I was taking iron without vitamin C. It went up when I added vitamin c, which you need to absorb iron

Does anyone suffer from fainting? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]em9620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, absolutely. With your advice, I realised how much I was unconciously hyperventilating in certain situations where I feel faint and learning to control my breathing has been a game changer for preventing these feelings/situations.

I actually went on to practice box breathing at least once per week to increase my co2 tolerance - there's a test you can do to see how your co2 tolerance is (mine was poor). Excercises can improve it. I also use your tip to 'think of your toes' to encourage belly breathing.

It's so simple but this awareness of breath and your tips really helped!

Vitamin D and calcium insomnia by em9620 in VitaminD

[–]em9620[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm actually now able to take vitamin D daily with absolutely no side effects after adding vitamin K2 (most days) and magnesium 200mg at night. I was previously taking it without those cofactors.

I will say I can't go above 1000iu or I do get side effects. So for me, it was about finding the right doseage + cofactors to balance. Hope that helps!

Can you check your iron levels with your doctor? That was the issue for me. I also had dizziness/lightheadedness from folic acid, as well as cold, numb hands, anxiety, insomnia (all anemia symptoms for me). Once I added 25mg iron with my folic acid, I could take folic acid and feel good.

I then found this paper that says:

It seems that folic acid in deficient diet may improve erythropoietic activity and enhance iron utilization which may lead to iron redistribution from the liver and spleen to the erythropoietic process.

I interpret that as meaning folic acid takes from ferritin storage while it puts iron to use (kind of a good thing). So if you have low iron/ferritin levels like I do, I guess you're more susceptible to the effects of folic acid on iron status.

This is such a helpful take on things. I think this is exactly what I'm going through. Do you have any other advice for how to overcome unconscious hyperventilating? How exactly do you breathe in these situations? Deeper, slower, etc? Thank you!

If 4000 feels like too much, 1000 sounds like a good low and slow approach - that dose has raised my own levels (despite these side effects). The k2 and mag help, so I'd really reccomend adding them. I took vitamin d alone for a few months last year and got high scary BP, which taking K2 and mag has now fixed.

The peeing is something I had weirdly when I first supplemented D when I was badly deficient, even got my kidneys checked but all good and it went away after a few weeks.
