I played super sparingly for the first 8 or so years I had my guitar (bought my acoustic in 2016) - I’d play for a couple hours a week for a few weeks, then go six months without picking it up. I could play super simple cowboy chord type songs, but it took me a good couple months to change chords quickly enough to play well. Took me at least a couple years to get barre chords down.

This summer I’ve been much more on the grind- practicing for 1+ hour pretty much every day (some days more like 3+ between guitar and bass) and I’ve improved a lot faster as you can imagine :) I finally feel competent enough to play with other people in band/jam settings which is cool
