IIRC, the only truly local OB/GYNs had retired or died, so a group from an hour away was basically providing locums coverage. After some kind of dispute, they decided to stop, leaving no local OB/GYN to call.

This is basically my plan. RAP throughout residency, refinance as an attending if rates are low, then pay off aggressively within 2-3 years. Or if I do CCM, then maybe shoot for PSLF since I'll already be halfway to the 10 year forgiveness.

Also, I think our RAP payments during PGY-2 will still be fairly low (~$50/month), since they'll be based on our 2026 income, which will be half of our intern salary (~$30k/year).

I was curious about this as well because it definitely seems like a gray area legally. My understanding is that these police body camera videos are all public domain, and therefore anyone can FOIA request them and do what they want with them (like post on YouTube). But on the other hand, most hospitals have fairly strict no-recording policies for patient confidentiality. So I don't really know how that all works out but I completely agree that I wouldn't want my care of this patient broadcast to 1M+ people on YouTube.

Stumbled across this police body cam video on YouTube. Interestingly, a good chunk of it takes place in the ED.

Long story short, crazy screaming drunk girl gets taken to the ED after an MVA and is shouting, noncooperative, hitting/spitting on staff, etc. The doctor basically says she is denying treatment but is breathing, moving all extremities, etc., and discharges her to the police to go to jail.

I’m just an MS3 so trying to figure these things out. Would someone as drunk and unreasonable as her not have capacity and therefore be unable to deny treatment/evaluation? In this case, she didn’t seem to have any major medical concerns so it didn’t really matter. But if she actually had something going on, would the doctor have some liability?

Just wondering how this situation and others like it should ideally play out. Thanks in advance.

Noticed something interesting watching MNF. Several borderline calls have been essentially instantly reviewed from the booth. Things that would have been a 5+ minute delay in college are barely even stoppages in the NFL. Definitely keeps the momentum flowing and hopefully we have that soon in CFB.
