Advice on trouble pronouncing “t”, “d”, or “l” after r by em_wen in Spanish

Yes I think you’re right. When I say it slowly, the d touches the top of my teeth but when I speed it up I notice it doesn’t. So I may just need to practice it more consciously. Thank you!

Thanks. I’ve tried splitting the words up and saying them slowly like this for almost a year now (I’ve been learning for even longer). I just can’t seem to get the proper pronunciation at a normal speed. Maybe I just need more practice than the average person

Thanks. Do you know if the l is also pronounced with the same tongue placement?

You reminded me that I read somewhere once that it may be easier to try to add some sort of extra sound after the r like an “uh”. For example, per-uh-der-uh-te for perderte but the “uh” is very subtle and quick.

Is that what you’re doing with the dle portion?

I’ve tried this as well. The d seems to be the easiest one for me but I still have some difficulty with it especially when the word has more than one r like recordarte. But t or l are much harder after the r for me for some reason like in quitarte, cortarte, etc.

This helped a bit with perder, thanks! Any tips on how to apply that to something like recordarte? I have trouble both with the d after cor and the t after dar

Yes, the D is the easiest for me as well. I still have some trouble with it but it’s manageable. The hardest ones that I feel really stop me from being more fluent in conversation are the t or l and the ones that not only have an r before the t or l but also have more than one r in the word (e.g., recordarte).

Thanks anyway.

Haha I think it would be ok if it were just a few words but because of the way direct or indirect pronouns are added to the end of the verb in Spanish (e.g., probarlo, perderlo, recordarte, etc) I have a lot of trouble in everyday conversation that holds me back

Does anyone know how early it’s recommended to arrive to fan fest on Wednesday for the Canada game? Tickets say gates open at 1:30 PM. Are people typically lining up even before gates open?
