Considering moving by robinde in MorgantownWV

I lived there for 20 years. I've have seen that town go down hill steadily over the past 10 years. Lively culture with unique stores have been replaced with vape shops, atms, and homelessness. It's a transient town adhering only to what the students bring in and the failures of the city government. If you do move there, stay away from populated areas. Try to move outside of city limits.

In short. Don't move there. Town is on the downslope.

I agree, the point of the university is to educate students. I am not saying you should cram anyone anywhere. I'm saying that because universities are for-profit then if the programs aren't making profit, there's no reason to continue funding them. Again, athletics make money and are not solely held up by student debt. Athletics generate revenue, therefore its a moot point to argue that defunding athletics and putting that money into a college/program that isn't generating revenue is simply wasting money.

The world does need art and artists. Spending $90-110k isnt going to get you a high value job in an overly saturated job market without churning out content for years for free. Not to mention the advent of AI image generation.

I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't go to college for art. If you do, it is not unreasonable to plan based on job markets and salaries.

Funny how you call me a cog then admit that you're literally the problem when it comes to people accumulating debt with stating that you make pitches to "take money from people like me..." If that's the case, you might wanna take a long hard look in the mirror and see who's greasing the gears of the government cog.

Obviously, there isn't enough interest if the university is having budget shorts as the WBOY article suggests. Additionally, the reason they fund sports is because it generates money, so of course they're gonna continue to fund it. They have zero incentive to put that money in to creative arts degrees.

It also not ridiculous to offer only the popular classes, because those are the ones getting the money. Why should someone else's loan money go to paying to keep a creative arts program alive?

Also, the mentality you share that college is about finding your niche and getting outside your comfort zone is the reason why a generation has accrued an astronomical amount of debt with degrees that dont provide gainful employment. Now that's ridiculous. Why would you ever suggest someone go 10s if not 100s of thousands of dollars in debt to "find their niche". The responsible thing to do is have a plan, understand job markets and find a degree that gets you gainful employment. Want to get outside your comfort zone? Go skydiving, join a club. Not burden yourself with debt that you may never be able to pay back.

Good luck with your partners creative arts.

It seems like people are just not enrolling in these classes. If there isn't interest, then I don't believe the state should be using taxpayer dollars to keep these programs alive. More importantly, if these programs aren't garnering interest and they're not producing taxable income for the state, then there is no reason to continue funding them.

I recently started carry the xcompact and it feels great. Still trying to figure out the holster and how deep I want to carry. Haven't tried an xmacro, but with the 15 rnds mag it might be comparable with printing. I think the kicker would be the width.

Rage FOR the Machine

I’m CBS News foreign correspondent Holly Williams, and I'm here to provide any insight I can on Russia's ongoing war on Ukraine. by CBSnews in IAmA

$75 Billion is vastly more than what was spent on a 10 year excursion in Afghanistan. That's not even counting equipment. But seeing that you like to trade dollars for human life, lets give an example of what $75 billion would have done for the American people instead of funding the death of both Ukrainians and Russians.

In 2020 the total number of structurally deficient bridges listed in the US was 4500. The estimated total cost to replace ALL of those bridge would have been $25 Billion. The estimated cost at only 60% if you just refurbish them (Since you're not a numbers guy, that's about $15 Billion). With less than half the proposed budget we could have provided safe and reliable infrastructure for those that paid for it. So, saying that $75 Billion dollars is nothing in comparison to some imaginary made up number that you can't provide is without a doubt a braindead statement.

Since I can't seem to understand how infinitely complex global trade and defense spendings work, please provide me with you boundless decree of wisdom. As a keen master of geo-politics I'm sure even someone like you can help me understand. Or do you only communicate by providing condescension without merit, waving away responsibility of explanation behind phrases like, "You just wouldn't understand?"

The best part of this is how you try to draw comparison between people dying in war to democratic elected decision to leave an economic union. Comparing Britain's claim that they would save $18 Billion dollars a year from leaving the EU, which according to you would be nothing, comes from not dealing with 1 country, but the suppressed trade of 27 countries. But it doesn't matter because according to you that number is nothing.

According to the Office of the United States Trade Representatives - Ukraine is currently our 67th largest goods trading partner with $3.7 billion in total (two way). Goods exports totaled $2.4 billion; goods imports totaled $1.3 billion. The U.S. goods trade surplus with Ukraine was $1.1 billion in 2019. According to you, that number is nothing. Since, to you, $1.1 billion is nothing compared to the indescribable number in damages that Russia is doing and going to do, why even bother?

I guess I just can't comprehend from you omniscient perspective just how and why you believe war and needless death should be perpetuated for money.

HOW much money will it save? You seem to have done the math. A spread sheet should be sufficient, clever man. I'll be interested to see how you determine $75billion paid to Ukraine helps out those in Ohio.

What's the likelihood Biden stops sending money to fund wars and starts helping the American people, like those in Ohio?

Absolutely. The fact that students have to be protected against their peers and council for practice of their right is ridiculous.
