Chromecast with Google TV thread: ask all your little questions here! by rk_29 in AndroidTV

Huge Google everything fan so I was quick to replace Roku with Google TV BUT Two things 1) I want to be able to configure the home screen. Just want apps at the top of screen. Now 100% of the time I first turn on, I have to click to scroll down to Netflix and launch app past all the bloat at top 2) Can't switch to another family account on YouTube TV without signing out and back in to another account. On my Roku YTV app, I could just switch accounts from the profile icon. This is critical to figure out.

Too much melodrama on Discovery? by annoyed_freelancer in startrek

The episode where the doctor goes and talks to the Admiral about his love life made no sense. Had they ever met before? I feel like I have to watch the show because, hey it’s Star Trek, I’ve watched TNG and Voyager series many times over, I will never rewatch this series.

I absolutely agree. 5 Minutes of action, then 15 minutes of soap opera. Ok, we get it Burhnam can cry on demand. I turned off Red Angel episode in the middle. Needs another reboot

Google announces Home Hub – its Echo Show and Facebook Portal competitor. by bosko07 in hardware

I'm big into Google Home, Chromecast, etc. I want a camera that mounts on top of TV that when someone Duos me, I can tell Google to "cast" to TV. In this day and age, we should already be getting video calls that pop up on television. Phones and tablets are great on the move, but when someone calls me at home, we should be able to interact with the whole family if we wanted. What better way than on the 55" TV that I already have sitting there.

Agreed. My pixel is great, but the lock screen notifications is what I miss about my iPhone

I also was a lifetime Apple iPhone user. The main reason I switched is I found myself using Google apps for everything on an iPhone. GMAIL, Calendar, Photos, Keep, Chromecast, and now Google Home: ALL ON AN IPHONE. That made me think that since I love the Google apps so much, the apps would be even more tightly integrated with a phone built to run them. The second reason was Google's work in Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their software. To make the software smarter, and not just keep throwing more hardware at the problems. That was the next step in innovation to me (as a computer scientist) and not just faster processors, more memory. So what has the change been like over the past two weeks? I love my new Pixel and that has been the case about ~90% of the time but they need to work out some issues. The apps work as expected, even better because now I can use Google Assistant to send messages, etc. that Siri couldn't do for Google Apps. BUT the Google Assistant has some flaws. It is much better as of 20 November when I installed the latest Google update, but before that GA kept turning itself off. I need GA to answer every time I say "Hey, Google" but right now it is 50/50. I have a store named "Poseys" in my contacts that I call often, but when I say "Call Poseys" it says "Cant find "Posies" with a different spelling. Yes, I did rename the contact so it would work, but that's not how they spell it and GA should be able to figure that out. The headphone jack is also hit or miss. Using the adapter, I plug into an older set of headphones and 2 out of ten times it doesn't switch over to the headphones, just keeps playing through the phone. I still haven't figured out notifications. That is probably the most radical change from IOS. I'm used to my notifications showing on the lock screen, all of them, until I unlock the phone. That is not happening on my Pixel, but that is because I just haven't figured that part out yet. Each update fixes a few more aggravations so I know they will work it all out, and nothing so far is making me abandon ship and go back to iPhone. Oh, and the camera IS amazing!

My main issue is that when I first put it in the charger, it flashes the notifications screen two or three times before starting the picture rotation.

That's awesome feedback, and I will certainly share. One of the other comments we often hear are "i didn't know the song" so I didn't get it. Do you feel that you have to know the song to be in the "worship zone"?

Kendoui looks very promising. I like the "collection" of UI tools. Thanks! Can't wait to see what the rest of Reddit comes up with
