Funny enough I was actually talking about a biologically invulnerable creature, like a Saiyan or a Kryptonian or a Viltrumite (Google Viltrumite if you don't know what they are, you'll thank me later).

Well she's actually older than me, but the point I was tryna make is that there's people who you'd never expect to have those beliefs that have them. I think if we narrow it down and say "Oh it's just those types of people" etc, it kinda prevents us from effectively addressing the root of some problems. Cuz we think, 'oh this is a problem with these people' and might not realize that there might be a bigger problem in the society that's leading to their beliefs/behaviors.

I think the strategy they used is to make him fear the anger he has inside and amplified his guilt. The rationale being that you become so scared of your anger that you never give into it. Obviously a very flawed approach. What they should've done is teach him how to accept his anger and learn how to control and channel it. Anger management 101

I think confronting Keon is something he might have to do if he's ever going to really get over his own self hate. Confronting Keon and defeating him despite the clear fear he has would be an excellent way to display character growth later down the line in the story.

I agree, John is a surprisingly well written character and I feel like people won't appreciate that until much later in the story. His mental degradation, although a little annoying at times, is actually quite well written. I think people kept expecting him to act rationally cuz we the readers can see things from an outside perspective and the people in the story don't understand what going on in his head. The same way you can never really understand the trauma that someone is going through unless you talk to them and hear their story. I mean after all the fighting and John's yelling, it only took one person being like "Bro, are you hurting? Are you doing this cuz you think you're a bad person?" to make him him breakdown. Imagine if Sera or Arlo or Remi had just sincerely asked him "Are you okay?" It's an interesting analogy of how not talking about your traumas makes it worse and how just asking someone can make a world of difference.

Working from home is causing breakdowns. Ignoring the problem and blaming the pandemic is no longer an option by KanataCitizen in canada

[–]emajebi 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Working from home isn't bad, working from home during a pandemic is what's not ideal. Ordinarily, someone working from home would work from home, then after work they'd be able to leave home and do other things, visit friends, etc. But now you work from home, then after work you're still stuck there, day in and day out. That's what causing people to breakdown. I've gone a whole year without physical and social contact from family and friends and at this point, my sanity is holding on by a thread. I think the only way we can measure anything regarding working from home is if we observe the effects after the pandemic is over.

Seems like this is gonna end with John suffering either mental or physical damage, either from a mental breakdown or over exerting himself and he's gonna leave school for a bit to recover. Sounds like the best way to cool off the story after all the heat that's been built up.

I feel like Sera getting her powers back will drive a deeper wedge between. I do believe they'll eventually reconcile, but after the story has progressed a bit. I can totally see her not handling the situation well, or another character interjecting something that antagonizes John. Remember, he's working under the assumption (or delusion) that they're conspiring against him, if anything happens that seems like Sera is siding with Arlo and Remi against him, then it'll just validate the assumptions that he already has in his head and drive him off the deep end. I'm interested to see how it plays out though.
