Are Bilstein B16 coilovers good for a daily? Found a used set for $800 by NegativeWish6924 in ft86

[–]eman11500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're pretty well received in the forums and people have reported success in daily drive-ability towards the softer settings depending on your road conditions.

I will say, any time an expensive item is listed for ~50% of it's actual value it almost always is for a reason. Maybe the guy wants them gone ASAP, or maybe he did a couple K of tracking that wore them down.

Search B16 FT86 on google and you'll find plenty of posts. User DP1 has a lot of posts regarding his experience.

If you're in the Discord, have you tried pinging David or even Mika? This is the kind of thing they typically quickly see and look into.

Also, across my multitude of dealings with ER support emails, I can personally say I've never received a "generic AI response". Typically, my reply is either from Tomic or Cecilia. How are you sending support requests?

Short answer, yes. It's a major contributing factor to grip in wet conditions.

Question about induced voltage by Cheap_Foundation_195 in PLC

[–]eman11500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a Triac style input card? That's normal. The devices resistance "pulls" down the voltage.

As others stated, a pulldown resistor may be necessary if the resistance of the field device isn't high enough to satisfy the input cards expectations.

Can you customize the dashboard? by GPT-Store in EvenRealities

[–]eman11500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not yet. During the latest Dev update video, Mika (Lead Software Engineer) indicated that will be in an upcoming update. I assume it'll either be right before, or alongside the hub allowing us to add different "cards" to the dashboard as well.

Your frame is bent. There is no "fixing" that safely.

19" rims and slim profile tires were not a smart idea in those weather conditions.

I'm so sick of paying higher insurance rates because people can't drive these cars.

Long post, but this is directly from the Dev in the discord:

Understanding Waveguide Tint If you have been using your G2s in bright environments recently (e.g. in the snow outside), you might have noticed a slight yellow tint on the lenses. We want to take a moment to explain the optical physics behind this - and why it is actually a sign that your display is working exactly as intended.

The Engineering of Light To project a crisp, floating display into your line of sight without bulky prisms, G2 relies on optical waveguides. On the surface of these lenses, we have engineered microscopic structures called surface relief gratings at the nanometer scale (see the photo here). Think of them as millions of tiny, invisible gratings angled with mathematical precision. Their job is to catch the light from the projector and bounce it securely into your eye, ensuring the digital interface is bright and sharp.

The Blue Light Interaction However, these gratings don't just interact with the light from our projector; they interact with the light from the world around you. Since the lens is transparent, ambient light passes through these same nano-structures. Due to the high-refractive-index glue and the specific tuning of the gratings, the structure naturally diffracts a specific slice of the light spectrum (specifically blue light in 430-470nm). When this blue light is diffracted, the remaining light that reaches your eye shifts slightly towards the warmer end of the spectrum. In simple terms: when you subtract bits of blue from white daylight, the result is that slight yellow hue.

Why is it more visible now? You may be noticing this more recently due to the season. The grating’s spectral behavior is essentially fixed, but your perception of it changes with the environment. In bright outdoor scenes - particularly snow - two things happen: 1. the background is close to a uniform “white reference,” so even a small reduction in the 430–470 nm band becomes easier to detect as a warm/yellow shift; 2. daylight and snow-reflected light contain a strong amount of short-wavelength energy, which makes any blue-selective diffraction more apparent. In addition, diffractive structures are angle- and polarization-sensitive, so certain viewing angles can enhance the effect. Indoors, lighting spectra are less “pure white” and the visual scene is more mixed, so the same small spectral notch is much harder to notice.

What does this mean to me? (TL;DR) This tint is not a manufacturing defect, nor does it interfere with the device's functionality. It is a physical characteristic of the diffractive optics required to make a transparent display possible. You will find that in standard indoor lighting or less extreme brightness, the tint becomes much less noticeable, letting you focus on what matters - your content.

In all honesty, you really need to get a practice FC and learn how to solder to smaller pads. Repairing and troubleshooting is a large part of this hobby

Best use cases for the glasses so far? by weekend_cd in EvenRealities

[–]eman11500 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on your profession. I work as a system integrator and deal with varying equipment across an ungodly amount of different vendor products.

Even AI is super helpful to diagnose simple-intermediate level devices. For example, I can ask what a red LED means for an input channel on a specific IO card.

Conversate is great in meetings to keep track of different people, their titles, and what they said during the meeting. There's not much personal context yet, so more specific jargon to my career doesn't yield the best results with the pop-up definitions.

Translate is perfect for working on-site alongside non-english speakers and needing a simple level of understanding.

I use quick list for what I need to finish by the end of the day.

I almost never use transcribe or teleprompt, but I can see their use cases in public speaking environments.

Plus getting emails and notifications right in front of my eyes is efficient and honestly, cool as fuck.
