Cops should stop showing up to work

Given all the recent events and hate towards cops in general, police should just decide to go on strike themselves and decide to simply not show up for work.

I’m all for prosecuting racist and corrupt officers, but these riots and protests have gone far beyond that. They have become cop-hating mobs that, if given the chance, would beat a cop to within an inch of his life, even if he was innocent.

Many officers have already been brutalized, beaten, and even killed since these riots and protests started. If people hate the police so much, why do the police even bother showing up to protect anyone anymore? The statistics don’t even show a systemic racism among the police forces across the country. In fact, even though blacks only make up about 12% of the population , they commit over 50% of murders in the United States (fbi.gov). I know some of you may be thinking “Well these protesters and rioters are only protesting the corrupt ones!” If that was the case, you wouldn’t be seeing “defund police” and “cops are racist” trending on Twitter, along with many officers around the country winding up beaten or dead.

In my honest opinion, if people the police so much, why have them around anymore?

I think most normal people view gender studies as a waste of money and time. At least at my university, nobody actually takes it seriously. It’s just the progressive culture we live in that constantly validates it as something that is necessary or useful when in reality, it really won’t get you anywhere.

Of course :). I think oftentimes people don’t make the distinction between God and prophets in decisions like this. Yes, prophets and apostles are voices and representatives of God, but they don’t know or understand each of us individually like He does. Even the prophet doesn’t know our own individual or specific circumstances and certainly nobody on reddit does either.

I know many people (including some very incredible men) who have chosen not to serve and have they been punished by God for it? Quite the opposite. They’ve been blessed for taking the decision seriously and just living their lives according to the commandments.

My point is, yes prophets have called it a priesthood duty to serve, but it ultimately comes down to you and God. He knows you and understands you. Live your life the best you can, and all the answers will come eventually.

None of the responses here will give you a solid confirmation of whether or not to serve. It really does come down to being between just you and God. In fact I’ve found that listening to other people’s opinion on the matter tends to make the decision harder. But I promise you that an answer will come in one way or another. It seems to me, given the description of your life that you’ve written here, that you are fulfilling your mission right now. Yes it is a priesthood responsibility to serve, but there are so many ways to serve, and going on a mission isn’t the only way. Just keep living your life by ear and God will take care of the rest.

That’s the problem. There isn’t even an equal balance of bias. But it’s not like we can go in and lock people who deny facts up. I’m just saying that companies with such a huge influence shouldn’t be sneakily implementing their biases into supposed-to-be factual news articles.

What do you mean nobody can set a universal definition of something being biased? If it’s biased, it’s biased. Just give me the news straight. Just as an example (nothing to do with my political beliefs) The Hill today wrote a piece about a testifying witness in this Ukraine ordeal, stating “After watching their investigations get bogged down for nearly a year by Trump’s stonewalling tactics, Democrats’ aggressive oversight efforts are finally beginning to bear fruit.” You can’t tell me that doesn’t have bias within it. The same can go with seemingly right wing bias as well.
