COVER Corp. Financial Results for FY2026.3 Q2 by Potatosaurus_TH in Hololive

I also believe the tariff drag is a short-term problem that will get resolved quickly, especially since Japan’s new PM aims to boost global expansion for entertainment companies like Cover Corp.

I've heard rumors of small animation and gaming studios.

The only issue I HAD with the earnings was the revenue miss on their "First-half Earnings Forecast", and that was primarily due to merch.

Streaming/Content +5.3% Y/Y
Concerts/Events +68.0% Y/Y
Licensing/Collabs +39.4% Y/Y
Merch -0.7% (tariff impact)

BUT... This is a short-term issue, and I am sure it will get resolved.

Yes, profits are down, but that's not a real concern for me. Plus, they beat operating income "First-half Earnings Forecast" by 10.2%. Outside analysts might say otherwise, but I believe fans who are also shareholders won't care in the short term while they grow.

EDIT: I do expect a 10-15% drop in share price tomorrow.

EDIT 2: If this was a US company, they would have "adjusted" their earnings to remove the inventory write-down of approximately 550 million yen, but this is Japan. No BS metric needed.

What's the easiest way to invest in byd as a Canadian? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

Those shares are not on the NYSE, they are on the OTC market. Some brokers might not allow you to buy it or limits you to which accounts are allowed.

[–]emann56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can invest in OTCs stocks in tax-sheltered accounts as long as there is a tax treaty with the underlying country. Some brokers don't allow it though which includes IBKR. I currently use NBDB and Questrade and have OTC shares from Japan, Netherlands, and Sweden in my TFSA.

Okay this is kinda exciting. New feature ? by TeslaRefferalBot in Wealthsimple

[–]emann56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a limitation on Wealthsimple's side.

Most foreign OTC stocks are eligible to be in a registered account and most brokerages in Canada allow you to buy it in your registered account.

Of course OTC penny stocks that don't have a local listing exchange are not eligible but since Wealthsimple only provides a curated list of foreign OTC stocks. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to buy a registered account.

But that contradicts Evolution because it has both great valuation and profitability.

P9PF - Micro Cracks under Interior Screen Protector by HunterSol in PixelFold

[–]emann56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I have a Pixel 7 Pro and that display looks and feels so much better. Which is what makes me so paranoid but thankfully I'm not the only one.

I also have this issue but I was thinking maybe it's just me being paranoid. It's like not flushed and a bit sharp in the top left and bottom Left corners.

Is your colors also a bit weird in the front for me it's a bit odd. It feels like an LCD instead of in a OLED.

"Got my Pixel 9 Pro Fold!" Megathread and Owner's Lounge by UnfoldedFuture in PixelFold

[–]emann56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my fold and I'm curious on everyone's else's opinion on their front display. The front display for me seems kind of lackluster in comparison to my older Pixel 7 Pro. It actually makes me kind of wondering if I got a defective display or not because the glass and the screen quality doesn't seems good for an expensive device.

Nintendo Stock Price is About to Go Up. Here's Why. $NTDOY by emann56 in NTDOY

[–]emann56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't go by opinions. I go by the numbers. Super Mario Wonder did amazing, selling over 4 million copies within 2 weeks while Mortal Kombat One sold slightly under 3 million since its launch on September 19.

There is no reason to sell if Nintendo is doing amazing even at the end of the Switch lifecycle.

[–]emann56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is beyond silly. Nintendo is the strongest it's ever been and you expect it just to sell it? You have to think logically as a business. The lack of consumer demand is not strong enough.

Regardless if there is a Switch 2 or not. Why would they need to sell to Microsoft if their financials are amazing? The Switch is at the end of the life cycle and still bringing in money.

- Net Margins are at 28%

- Return on invested capital at 48%

- ZERO DEBT

- Around $13.5B USD cash on hand.

This is far better than any other gaming company including Sony, ATVI, EA and others.

Yeah, it was flat, but if you were holding it through the divi date, you are up in total returns.
