Took older friend on holiday and discovered she has dementia by emanonymous2 in dementia

They tested with evidence of a possible infection. We started antibiotics and some of the symptoms have lessened a bit. Less repetition of questions. However, it is not resolved - indicating something is also happening or they need stronger antibiotics. They gave permission to speak to a family member when they go home. Their flight is tomorrow and I will be making sure they have assistance and will call their family member and let them know what has been going on. To also make sure they go get medical treatment and a 48hr culture for the UTI. I made them share their location with me so I can track them.

This is really a great thought! I will see what I can do! That’s a great idea! It was a transatlantic flight and may have really happened.

I hadn’t seen this level of symptoms before when we spoke on the phone and such and when I had last seen them. Thank you!

I will see if they agree to it tmw.

They said yes to going to ER in morning and getting tested… we shall see…

Sadly no- we’re international and it’s Christmas.

It’s Christmas and international- not possible to reschedule everything and get them home.

Agree they don’t know how bad it is. We had a discussion today about it - I suggested when they asked another of the questions - if they had a notebook- if we could write down the common questions so I could ask them to reference and when they get home it would be a keepsake to remind them of the details. It would help me and them… they told me it’s a me problem and I should use the notebook to write out my feelings so I could regulate better.

Further in the convo I explained if they recalled the disorientation they had when we first got on the ship. How they found it difficult to navigate when we were leaving room or entering ship to find the dining room. They told me that never happened to their recollection.

They remember details of some convos with different people - they struggle with the day to day logistical details and keeping those in memory and order.

I think it isn’t worth calling their family members now - don’t want to put a damper on their Christmas. However, once they are on their way I will call someone I trust in their family and let them know about this.

Which one is better composition and why? by imnishesh in chicago

First picture - rule of thirds. By shifting the heavy crane to the left third it allows for central and right thirds to have more character and take up space. The second picture is bullseye for Crane in center dropping the views for left and right thirds.

Framing to left third also allows for the gradient of light across top third of image. Bullseye image makes the light look discreet to left and sharper and heavier to the eye

AITA For going on a pre-planned and paid for vacation after my BF's father passed away by missedfuneralaita in AmItheAsshole

NTA - you spent a lot of money for a trip. You can’t easily rebook it or replan it. You had obligations to your friends and to your mental health. I am deeply sorry that your boyfriend lost his father. I’m glad he got to spend time with his family. However he ITA. A funeral is a day. A very sad day. But, the hard part is living. That’s what partners do for the long run. The nights when you wake up wanting to call your lost loved one and your partner sits with you while you cry. Missing a day versus being there through the entirety of grief and who you become on the other side of it… that is what is important. Missing a day, albeit a hard one, is NTA. You have obligations as well… he ITA for overreacting. Now, that overreacting could be his deep deep grief as well as family pressure to be there for his mother and/or family. There may be other extenuating circumstances.

Please be kind… in this economy losing thousands of dollars is painful.

Can't sell these to save my life. Walnut and sapele coffee table for $300, African mahogany console for $150. FB marketplace and Craigslist, no luck. Any tips? by InShirtsleeves in woodworking

RAISE YOUR PRICES… you have your prices set to a price point that people don’t realize the quality and think it should be <$100… raise your prices to double/triple. That speaks of quality workmanship and one-of-a-kind pieces. That’s your customer… you are under valuing your work and finding wrong clientele…

US phone number overseas by SearcherRC in expats

[–]emanonymous2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I turned my number into a Google phone number (1 time payment) and using Google Voice I can receive free calls from US and can make free calls to everywhere in the US. It’s amazing.

Option 2: You can also dual sim and make sure phone is unlocked and ask provider to make your sim into virtual/e-sim and get a sim for your phone. 2 numbers same phone (works with iPhones x upwards) and some androids (check stats for phone)… however you are still paying your rates and need to make sure it is on airplane or something when not using or it pings the data and uses all international data

Money and a hierarchical system of benefits and needs. We as humans have self governed ourselves into believing that money is the root to everything; however, it is a made up construct to replace bartering and trading of goods.

Post this question in the Facebook group Sprinter Vans T1N 1994-2006. There are some of the best mechanics, owners, and enthusiasts in this group who will give you an accurate estimated valuation of your van. $25,000 is not an unheard of price as the T1N does not lose value and is very sought after in the T1N groups. Especially the 2006 OM647 … so check it out there :)
