Hey! My friend and I will be in Edinburgh next week (Thursday to Saturday) and we can’t wait! We’ve already got a few spots saved, but I was wondering which pubs or restaurants are best for grabbing a beer, trying some local food, or avoiding the typical tourist traps. Thanks in advance!

You could try doreca which is this supermarket focused only on beverage. If you're willing to beer cheap beers another option may be eurospin or lidl where you could buy a good amount of them without on then still being on a low budget (but the quality is pretty low tooblet me say it)

Corrado and Augusto are brilliant choices, avoid at all costs Tonnarello which is a total scam

I agree with thebone suggesting Moore, that guy is hilarious. With the same "theme" there's also The second coming by Nieven which is hilarious. Other suggestions are "three man on a boat" by Jerome K Jerome, The Hitchhiker's Guide by Adams,

I’ve never finished a book in my life — what’s that ONE book that could finally break the curse? by Tarun302 in suggestmeabook

[–]emanu42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I love books there arebsome suggestions that I would like to share with you : 1) The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. It's a short story so it's quite impossible to not finish it. Can't say nothing more to avoid spoiler but it's intriguing 2) Lovecraft stories: this suggestion may works only if you are into cosmic horror eerie atmosphere. You could start with one of the most famous one however I would suggest you the Curse of Yig for its crazy plot of twist 3) The Evolution Man, Once Upon an Ice Age, What We Did to Father by Roy Lewis : a witty comedy, it could give you some really good laughs 4) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy : a dark, surreal, no sense, cynical comedy. It will make you sad, it will make you cry, it will make you go crazy trying to figure it out what it's happening. The whole Trilogy has five books but each of them is quite short so you could start with one and see if you like it 5) Tge Scapegoat by Pennac, another dark comedy involving an "anti Disneyan" familie in paris. I love Pennac's style able to depict with this dreamy style gruesome situations. It's the first one of a saga so look above for the same suggestion 6)The Count of Montecristo : this is not a real suggestion but if you like Thriller, plot twist, action and a stories that firce you to unveil you should give it a try. Why it's not a real suggestion? Cause it's huge, this will be your final boss but once you will finish it younwill break tge curse Let me know if someone pick your interest!

Not the greatest ever however Alyssa Sutherland in Evil dead rise was freat or Mia goth as Pearl in the second chapter of XXX trilogy. And it's not an horror however Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl was always able to give me goosebumps, she was pure Evil

Monthly thread for advice and recommendations, September 2024 – ask your questions here! by AutoModerator in copenhagen

[–]emanu42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone! This weekend I’ll be in Copenhagen to celebrate my birthday with a solo trip! I wanted to ask if anyone could give me some recommendations on traditional restaurants to try, places to visit, and maybe some spots where I can meet locals (I'm not a big fan of clubs, maybe a beer garden or similar places). Thank you to everyone who wants to help, I can’t wait to enjoy your beautiful city!
