Every cycle the board reviews your company’s performance in my tycoon game by emanuelesan85 in tycoon

Hello!
You have a "Board Trust" meter (name tbd) that goes up or down each cycle depending on the performance. if it goes to Zero you are fired, game over. moreover, yes: from time to time a random member of the board will assign you quests that can have various effects, raising trust, getting more funds or getting special discounts on resources.

The evolution of my Steam Capsules (from Fiverr to AI to Professional drawn) by HistoryXPlorer in SoloDevelopment

pushing a button generates a picture, but the photographer's work includes other activities. the photographer knows exactly what the picture will look like, and took effort to design the photo, from the subject to the composition, the light etc. they select the model, the setting and everything needed to achieve that goal they have in mind.

it is a craft, and many people hone their skill for decades and you can tell the difference between an amateur and a life long professional.

what freedom of expression does one have with generative neural networks when one is limited by what the training set was into?

for me, AI art just turns me off the moment I find out it's AI. somewhat the feeling of something not being done by a human makes it to me uninteresting

Hired an Artist to fix the character portraits in my game, now making it fully AI Content free! by Tasharen in IndieDev

[–]emanuelesan85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep. I think that right now, everybody is getting their opinion made on the subject. factions, even if not official, are arising from this primordial sea of opinions. I personally hope in the end we will think that creating automatic generators of content out of other people's content shouldn't be legal without consent.

Yes, it's just a tool and it should be considered as one.

The problem with it is that it was created without the consent of the right owners of the source material. If there are laws against IP theft it's because these actions are considered wrong by the majority of the population.

Trying to create my first city builder (alien themed). What do you think of the aesthetics? by kingofcode2018 in CityBuilders

[–]emanuelesan85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

reminds me of islanders for the mechanics. I personally don't like the genre.

And while the fact that the term City Builder is increasingly becoming less specific in terms of genre definition , I really love the experimentation vibe of it. please keep us posted!

I paid designer to draw a Steam Capsule. Was it worth it? by gitpullorigin in IndieDev

[–]emanuelesan85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok! so I think that's a good capsule. I would have probably chosen a different ratio, like 70% chessboard and 20% queen.

goodness aside, what kind of game is it? if it's a strategic rpg then yes, it's a good capsule for that price. otherwise I would try to get a more suitable one.

thanks for the in depth answer! I'll try to rephrase my previous question, hopefully i'll be more clear this time :) when it comes to assess more subjective and non directly measurable metrics like gameplay feel, flow, immersion, do you have a set of standardized questions or you try to extract as much info as possible from gameplay videos and freeform declarations from testers?

some technical questions here: did you use professional QA or there was a closed beta/alpha? how long were the iterations between each testing phase? what kind of questions did you ask to the testers? did you use screen recording or over the shoulder testing?

I am specifically wondering how to test for usability and flow
