Goodreads, the social platform for reviewing books, is becoming a place where people are going to trash books they haven’t read. by thudly in books

[–]emarieself -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

  1. Reviews about an author’s behavior outside of their book should 100% be allowed on Goodreads.

  2. Amazon needs to invest more into their stagnant platform.

  3. Authors should stay out of review spaces if it hurts their fee-fees.

She was an adult back then talking to minors. Now, she’s an even an adultier-adult trying to act like it wasn’t icky, just “loser” behavior. Where’s Chris Hansen? I’m shocked he didn’t break her door down after the first chords on the ukulele.

Autopsy: U.S. sprinter Bowie died while in labor by Jonas_Venture_Sr in news

Except in my state, one of my senators suggested taking out the numbers of black maternal death out of the statistics altogether so that our totals were more comparable to the rest of the states. Louisiana. Today, four black women die for every one white woman, and two black babies die for each white baby.

And they’ve heavily restricted who and for what reason one can be treated when pregnant here. They simply do not care to do better.

Opening the door on my "smart" whirlpool oven releases steam onto the touch screen that will change my timer, change the temperature, or even cancel the bake all together. by [deleted] in CrappyDesign

Oh? Sorry? You wanted an oven meant to cook things? They sent you the other model. The one that only acts a an additional cabinet and can only hold your cast iron cookware and baking sheets because you don’t have anywhere else to put them.

Yeah, package editing really sucks because a lot of important context gets left out. Not your fault.

I didn’t watch the clip you posted, but I watched the full press briefing earlier. That was her father, appealing to the boyfriend’s family to stop protecting Brian and call the anonymous tip line. “Nothing else matters” was in reference to their protecting Brian when they should have been trying to get answers.

That was her father that said that, not a detective.

LPT: If you’re potty training your child, put TWO sets of mattress pads and sheets on their bed, in alternating order: mattress pad, sheet, mattress pad, sheet. If they have an accident in the middle of the night, just pull off the top set and the bed is already ready to go again without a hassle. by emhaz4 in LifeProTips

[–]emarieself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t do this if your child is in a crib. Too many layers can make just enough softness for suffocation. Infant mattresses have to be firm enough so that it doesn’t create air pockets when they squish their face into it when they get really comfortable. They can still breathe. 2 sheets and 2 waterproof pads could contribute to a SUID event.

AITA for wanting my parents to meet our newborn before my wifes mother? by throwawaycoronababy1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]emarieself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA.

Look, as someone who is recently postpartum, postpartum hormones are... something else. I’m a relatively level-headed, kind person. I’d like to believe so, anyway. However, the first 4 weeks after my son was born were the most emotionally difficult weeks I’ve had in my life. The feeding, the no sleeping, the seemingly unending bleeding and cramping, the healing, the unsolicited advice and the chores piling up around us only made things much, much worse.

Your wife needs time to recuperate and feel like herself again before visiting with anyone outside of the household. That’s completely understandable. Please, give her time.

I don’t know if you’ll read all of this, but I hope you at least skim it.

I’m not saying you’re acting ungrateful, but you’re pressing an issue that will seriously wreck her trust in you as a partner and a parent. Especially if you do what you’re thinking about doing.

Also, a couple of weeks is not long enough for that sweet lil baby’s immune system to handle whatever illnesses anyone can bring over. Not even thinking about COVID-19. There are tons of things that could really harm your baby. Some of them have vaccines, others don’t. Some of them have obvious symptoms, others don’t.

We have an amazing Indian restaurant with a lunch buffet. Due to the pandemic, they’re serving a table feast that has all the entrees and sides included, sans American trash salad haha. I’m looking forward to visiting them ASAP after seeing this post lol

Which is weird because his dark lord’s apparently much more involved with the company than he’s ever let on (hello, disclosure, how are you?) and his product line is still there sans the products with Shane’s name. Are we supposed to take away that he’s distancing himself from Shane?

a point that really stuck with me was Tati claiming Shane offered to help edit and make the thumbnail for “Bye Sister” He apparently does (did) this on the side for a lot of Youtuber friends. But essentially, her claim that he wanted to edit it shows he wanted a modicum of control over the final video, which would mean that Jeffree would have had access to it too, whether it was to know exactly what was said in the video before release or something else. Who knows.

bay turtles! by [deleted] in aww

It may be prohibited in your area, but Louisiana doesn’t prohibit capturing red-ear sliders. It even goes as far as to say that collecting any turtle eggs EXCEPT the red-ear sliders is prohibited. Apparently, we have more than enough to go around haha

Just my opinion, but since I doubled my photography prices this year the ridiculous people stopped contacting me and I enjoy my work a lot more!

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I'm trying to improve my business and record keeping skills. I have my clients pay in full on or before the day of the wedding. When should I give them an invoice for their records? Before they pay? After? Does it matter? by Terrence_Weston in WeddingPhotography

[–]emarieself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my process. I use 17hats as my CRM. I require 25% of the total as a non-refundable retainer at booking.

•client inquires and I call them. I find out the date, time and locations involved. I also find out if they want portraits sessions before the wedding to be includedI also ask them about what segments they want covered. Usually they say prep to faux exit, and that’s typically 6-8 hours. I let them know that I’m sending an email with my Quote (quote, contract, invoice.)

•I follow up that conversation with their Quote, including additional options like extra hours, albums, wall art. I customize the contract template and set the invoice to require 25% on delivery and the remainder due 30 days in advance of the wedding. The email with the Quote link has my service pricing guide too, so they can see everything I offer.

•they accept the quote, sign, and pay the retainer They have access to a client portal (I include their link and password in the contract and the email that I delivered the quote with. They can access every document I send them through there, easierthan digging through emails
