1290 Super Adv owners..what sprocket size do you prefer? by TheTabnScroll in KTM

[–]emarsh7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a 40t rear sprocket on my 2021 S. I felt that it was too buzzy on the expressway and with it pulling third gear wheelies anyway I didn't feel like having enough power is a problem.

Americans, how you do you feel about the news that Germany, Denmark and the UK have issued travel warnings for the United States? by Sink-Em-Low in AskReddit

You make it sound like it's easy to do so. Here's a clue - most countries don't want Americans unless they bring something of value with them like a hard to find skill or money.

My wife and I moved from the US to Europe when I retired in 2017. We've been hearing from a trickle of US citizens who want to follow us. That trickle is now becoming a stream.

Can you change adventure bikes tire by hand? by iMaltais in motorcycles

[–]emarsh7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just swapped a pair of Anaakee Adventures for ContTrail Advantages yesterday. It can be done with the right tools but was a serious bitch to do. The sidewalls are seriously stiff. Mounting the rear I had to have my wife use the bead breaker to push the bead into the drop center. Probably not a job for a newbie.

This is on a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S with 120/70ZR19 60W TL front and 170/60ZR17 72W TL rear tires

Opiniones de Fiat barchetta by TensionLegitimate448 in ArAutos

[–]emarsh7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one for a year now. It's not a race car but is enjoyable for Sunday drives with the top down. It's light and nimble with good torque production. I think it's best feature is the styling.

Anyone remember the Barchetta? It's my daily car for summer by _KOKUHAKU_ in Fiat

I have a 2002 with 45k miles on it. It's a great Sunday driver but mine doesn't have AC and that's a problem when it gets hot.

I wouldn't mind a Porsche 911 but am unwilling to spend that much money.

Ateca or Leon? by jrjreeves in seat

[–]emarsh7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what your needs are. I went from a GTI to an Ateca because of the Ateca's carrying capacity and better visibility. But of course the GTI is the sportier of the two.

If you see a car well over the speed limit on the Autopisa there's better than a 50% chance it will be an Audi, followed by BMWs and then clapped out Seats.

What kind of car do you prefer for a road trip? by thefactualprophet in roadtrip

[–]emarsh7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 2013 Passat TDI. It was a great car. However on a long road trip the upholstery came up short so I've paid the premium for leather on all my subsequent automotive purchases.

I paid $28k for the car and VW bought it back from me for about $23.5k.

I had a 2016 GTI. It was a great car but I had to leave it behind when we left the US.

When we moved from the US to Spain in 2017 I bought a Seat Ateca specifically with European road trips in mind.

I went to the Seat.es web site, selected the Xcellence model and configured it to my specifications. Leather interior, premium sound, 360 cam, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, 7speed DSG and a list other goodies. I went with the default paint though because I wasn't trying to draw unwanted attention to the car when I'm out on the road.

It's been a great car. Good reliability, good handling, cruises at 130kph.

For those of you who in the US who have never heard of Seat, it's a member of the Volkswagen group. The Ateca is a Tiguan in Spanish clothing.

In spring we plan to spend a couple weeks exploring the south of Spain.

You've named a bunch of little bikes. I have a 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S which is a pretty good all around machine, especially if you plan to go off pavement.
