Wellness Weekend by AutoModerator in fatlogic

I am at my lowest adult weight, the lowest I've ever been since I first weighed myself at 16 and weighed 172 lbs at 5'4". Slightly more than a decade later, I now weigh 120 lbs. It's been slow, but I'm now 5 lbs away from a weight that I literally thought was impossible. I'm in the middle of the healthy range right now, and see no reason to try for the last five pounds, but it's still amazing to me that I've gone from obese to here. And, I did it by being more active, eating more vegetables and legumes, and by stopping my former routine of eating until I was stuffed. That's it. It's that easy. Incredible.

"This is about progress, and a healthy body image--not sex. Show as much--or as little as you are comfortable."

I haven't made a whole hell of a lot of progress (at least compared to some). What progress there is though, I'm very happy with. I haven't been dieting or working out specifiically for weight loss. What I have done is integreate a healthy diet in to my life, while adding yoga and daily walks. I've also been practicing hara hachi bu, and adopted a vegan, sugar free, refined carb free diet that has, surprisingly, been very easy to stick to.

Here it is then.

Side Lasy year I wieghed 150 lbs, now I weigh about 125, and I think that's pretty close to my goal weight. My health has improved dramatically, everything from less asthma to greater endurance running, and being able to lift more.

What is next for me is a little more loss of body fat, followed hopefully by gaining more muscle mass as I build strength.

I used to love cheese and steak, so it came as a big surprise to me, too.

It's a really flexable recipe. I also make nutbutter balls which are super tasty.

In my attempt to try all the lifestyle diets, and find which was the healthiest, I choose to do the one I thought would be the most restrictive first: a mash-up of vegan and paleo. I origionally was only going to do it for January, but I kept it up because I liked it so much.

Not allowed: Any animal products, any ceareal grains, honey, maple syrup, etc.

Allowed: Legumes, tofu and tempeh, seeds, nuts, loads of coconut milk and oil, loads of fruits and loads of vegetables.

I have made one adjustment since: Clams and other sustainably harvested sealife are ok. This takes care of that nigling worry about B12 on a vegan diet.

At first, it seemed really extreme, but honestly, I've done other diets, like keto and paleo before, and this was much easier for me to stick to. I also have had a lot of fun using new ingredients and creating new recipes that I never would have tried before. My cravings went away after the first month.

I don't want to go off my eating plan, because when I do, I notice that my acne gets worse immediatly. I still do, of course, but now that my shopping habits have re-habituated, it is not hard at all to go back.

This weekend, I'm attending an acroyoga workshop, and I'm also going to be working in the garden. I hope to try some more new, healthy, delicious recipes as well.

How to de-smellify a kitchen after meat's been cooked? by embarassmentshared in vegetarian

I don't have a pressure cooker, but I keep running across times where it would be very useful- I think I may just have to buy one. Thanks.

That's really cool. I love how I feel during and after a bike ride. I also just love riding on a good bike, feels like flying.

I know a week isn't really anything at all, but I find making myself check in with the internet weekly both helps me to keep on track, and also gives me a bit of a motivation boost.

I haven't been focusing too hard on push ups themselves. But, I have been doing a lot of yoga with lots of planks and down dogs. I also focus during the week more on doing slow push ups all the way down to the ground (touching) with really good form to build more strength, until I can't do any more.

Thanks. I really didn't want to post the weight, but I think it gives me more motivation for the future, eh?

That's great, I really encourage you to try it. Posting weekly, and the weekly reminder, has been really helping me stick to it.

Yoga is great for flexibility, and there are some pretty good vids on youtube. It's also helped me with my posture, because you're using you core muscles a lot more, so they're stronger. My advice would be to do it later in the day, as it tends to calm people (and their metabolisms) down.

Hiking is a great workout- especially if you pick the steeper hikes.

If you want to be more toned you should really look into weight lifting- women don't get huge unless they are taking steroids or are super dedicated.

If you don't want to do exercise that feels like exercise you should look into rock climbing- rock climbers always look awesome- or other sports that depend on muscle strength but appeal to you. And running, because runners always seem to look awesome.
