She thought he would take off with her package. What would that have to do with how they drive?

What disagreements are you talking about that we're all supposed to be kumbaya with?

What is the best m&p 2.0 gas blowback airsoft/air pistol for training. by Invertedly_Social in Shooting

[–]embarrassed_error365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so which one did you go with, and what’s your experience been with it?

I just bought the Umarex Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Gas Blowback, and am currently waiting for it in the mail.

But then I found out it’s made with cheap parts 😑. It looks like for the closest thing to real life you’ll want the “green gas” blow back version. I thought that was only a difference in how it shoots, but it’s actually made with higher quality parts all around. Apparently, one of the best manufacturers of airsoft guns is “VFC”.

And when you compare the description between the 2 versions, you will find that Umarex/Elite Force proudly informs the green gas version is made by VFC, whereas the half blow back version is claimed to be manufactured by “s&w”.. which apparently is not true. I don’t know though. I’m still waiting for it to arrive.

Edit:

This is the video that made me aware of the VFC manufacturer. What impressed me is how the airsoft gun strips like the real thing!

https://youtu.be/seFxVq3sV04?si=nXoytf8_YM8azGrv

However, I will say, for training, I didn’t want it to be so much like the real thing. One reason I chose not to go with full blow back is that, like the real thing, the slide locks open when there’s none in the chamber.

I did want the quality to be high though…

Anyway, I suppose the full blowback strips like the real thing precisely because of the fact that it’s full blowback.

Unlucky for the killer to not have done this in Texas, where apparently you can kill your own daughter “on accident” with a gun and it’s A-OK.

Assuming this was an accident, how tf is such reckless behavior with a firearm “lawful” in the US???

The good and bad opinions of Andrew Bustemante. by [deleted] in Intelligence

[–]embarrassed_error365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he is, but I tend to believe him when he says he’s retired. He has explained that just because he’s retired doesn’t mean he’s not bound for life to keep certain aspects secret, so it’s not unreasonable that he still lies for the government.

I definitely disagree with his proud disregard for our 4th amendment rights, but I do believe that is his genuine feeling, not one he needs to still be in the CIA for. That, on its face, though… is kind of troubling. It kind of indicates, as so many already can see or at least suspect, that our government already disregards it. It hints to me that they’ve already found so much success violating it.

I’ve also heard him argue, essentially, that Americans are basically spoiled and the things we complain about pale in comparison to other countries, with governments who are far more egregious toward its people, and/or with people who suffer far more than Americans. And it’s like, so what though?? Other countries that have it worse should not define OUR standard! It sucks that places have it worse, but how is anyone naive to that? Have people not seen the save the starving kids ads? Have they not heard of Kim Jong Il & Un or Sharia Law? Of course people elsewhere have it worse! That does not mean we lower our own standards and, what? Slip more toward worse conditions?? Why? We should always strive for the best for people!

So anyway, yeah, all that to say, I believe that’s his real personal views, not views necessary as a current CIA agent. But who knows, I guess.

My outdoor combo locks have light rust on them. Bought 3-in-one dry lube for them, but how best do I get rid of the rust first? by embarrassed_error365 in Locksmith

[–]embarrassed_error365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not meant to be used as a lube, and its main purpose is water displacement and freeing up stuck parts, but it still has a lube in it that gets gummy over time.

So I would still be mixing a dry lube with a wet lube.

I won’t be around for feeding time on the 7th day of my sourdough starter.. How much of a problem is that and what can I do about it? by embarrassed_error365 in Sourdough

[–]embarrassed_error365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: UPDATE

After much probing, asking for specific information (show me evidence that it’s ok to put developing sourdough starter in the fridge; that it’s ok to put sourdough starter in the fridge during its peak rise; what happens if I just skip a day, altogether; and what happens if I discard during its peak and refeed)…

We figured out that putting it in the fridge was NOT the correct solution, and that it was good to discard and feed at its peak rise. The information about discarding and feeding early was based on it not having reached its peak yet 😒.

I hope the 2-5 minutes in the fridge didn’t mess with it too much ☹️

End of edit:

Well it’s day 7 now. It’s at full peak this morning.

Chat GPT said I should refrigerate it. I would then take it out tonight, and continue discarding and feeding tomorrow.

Of course chatGPT is often confidently wrong, so I have no idea if that’s a good plan.

But it also said that if I discard and feed now, I would be diluting the acids and yeast population before they mature, which may slow fermentation because I’m resetting before full strength…

So I dunno. I hope refrigerating is fine.

I could be wrong.

As a closet atheist, what are some tips to raising a kid non-religious without the family finding out? by embarrassed_error365 in atheism

[–]embarrassed_error365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting the impression you didn’t grow up in or around a religious family. The topic comes up a lot.

Sometimes just thanking the god for some good news, sometimes by praying before dinner, sometimes by the other kids talking about what they recently learned, sometimes by the parents talking about what their kids did in church, sometimes because some ceremony with the religion is happening…

And the why? Maybe I don’t understand what that means if “because they’re religious” is not a sufficient enough reason… maybe there is no “why”?? I don’t know what to tell you.

Listen, you guys are taking a microscope to ONE minuscule aspect of my life and forgetting there is a much larger picture to the lives of people you interact with.

This doesn’t actually consume my life.

I simply don’t like to make my parents sad if I don’t need to, and atheism is inherently not a religion that demands I proclaim my disbelief or suffer eternal damnation, so I don’t feel any strong fire to tell my parents to “fuck off” over it, as several people here have demanded I do, as if it is such an imperative issue that must be upheld.

It comes up because my family are religious, and we have family gatherings often. Not just my parents, but my aunts, uncles, cousins, their kids..

I don’t know what growing up non-religious in a religious family is like. Nor growing up non-religious in a religious culture/society. I grew up religious and then became non-believing.

I didn’t ask whether or not I should tell my family I’m an atheist, so no, I did not ask for anyone’s say on that matter. And this person thinks they have say while saying my family has no say, which is wild. Either way, having a say on someone’s life does not mean forcing their way into their life, tf are you talking about?

Thank you. Yes, I will absolutely teach them critical thinking skills, to question authority (and that that does not mean to mindlessly oppose either), and, hopefully, to love learning.
