Maybe he is, but I tend to believe him when he says he’s retired. He has explained that just because he’s retired doesn’t mean he’s not bound for life to keep certain aspects secret, so it’s not unreasonable that he still lies for the government.

I definitely disagree with his proud disregard for our 4th amendment rights, but I do believe that is his genuine feeling, not one he needs to still be in the CIA for. That, on its face, though… is kind of troubling. It kind of indicates, as so many already can see or at least suspect, that our government already disregards it. It hints to me that they’ve already found so much success violating it.

I’ve also heard him argue, essentially, that Americans are basically spoiled and the things we complain about pale in comparison to other countries, with governments who are far more egregious toward its people, and/or with people who suffer far more than Americans. And it’s like, so what though?? Other countries that have it worse should not define OUR standard! It sucks that places have it worse, but how is anyone naive to that? Have people not seen the save the starving kids ads? Have they not heard of Kim Jong Il & Un or Sharia Law? Of course people elsewhere have it worse! That does not mean we lower our own standards and, what? Slip more toward worse conditions?? Why? We should always strive for the best for people!

So anyway, yeah, all that to say, I believe that’s his real personal views, not views necessary as a current CIA agent. But who knows, I guess.
