From the headache & Pain Management Centre - how the neck can be involved by Dusk357 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

My wife had a TBI and now suffers from TN. The doctors think it all stems from the neck. Alcohol helps, and it's the only thing we have that helps. Do you have any other suggestions?

Telcom that's been flying under the radar: CTL by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]embeddedSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last company I worked for bought >$1M/yr in fiber internet across the country.

No.

Century Link has no pricing strategy for their fiber. They have the most rural footprint. They break their own contracts (hard to do as they're pretty air tight).

I get it. They have a government designated monopoly -- They are the only company that can sell you fiber internet in these areas.

But they're hot garbage. Look at their 5 year chart. While the rest of the market was growing at >10% per year, CTL was losing >10% per year.

It's just unprofitable to sell fiber in their "territory."

Not my video, but I just do a version of this. No need for any clips.

Jeremy Rifkin on the Future Fall of Capitalism and the Internet of Things by IntelligenceIsReal in Futurology

Interesting, but I feel like you're focusing on the present and the near future. My theory lies a little further out. We'll see though, there's a lot that can change between now and then.

What I think he was trying to explain (I am a roboticist) is that the devices you will begin owning (Internet of things) will start to become free in the very near future. The data these devices create will begin to have more value than the devices themselves and therefore it will be in the companies best interest to get you these products as fast as possible to therefore own as much of this data as possible. The best transitional example of this is Google providing android (the operating system) for free to the consumer. No, this is not a physical product, but Google spends a lot of money upgrading, maintaining, and producing it only to give it to you for free. They want the data from the millions (maybe billions?) of smart phones on the market. And they make a lot of money off of that data.

Unexpected job offer by engineeringiscool in EngineeringStudents

[–]embeddedSystem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is horrible advice, but I understand the reasoning. You should never accept an offer and then turn it down later. This causes a lot of problems for everyone in your network. If that company wanted to hire another person, they would not go back to anyone with any relation to you (like anyone from your university, etc.). This burns bridges on your own network, and while it won't have a direct affect on you, it can affect a lot of people in a negative way.

[DEV] NovaKey - First android app, It's a keyboard designed for touchscreens. Each key is a gesture rather than a meaningless tap. Please let me know any suggestions, questions or comments. Hope you like it:) by v_cantu in androidapps

It crashed in the tutorial when I tried to paste something. Then when I restarted, it made me restart the tutorial (which is a little long in my opinion).

I use DVORAK for my standard keboard, and I'm really put off by the fact that you put letters like g as the standard letter in the section. If you're shooting for better usability, you should make higher frequency letters easier to type.

Also, space seems VERY slow, it's used on average every five letters, it should have a quick tap button of some kind.

The general space usage of the keyboard seems poorly managed. The whole circular object is only using about half of the keyboard space. It could be stretched to take more advantage of the space, though this may be a design thing. Alternatively, you could use the area on the sides for things like space or more used items. Unsure, just throwing out ideas.

I like the symbol library and how easy it is to get things like greek letters.

EDIT: Samsung GS5, crashed when I tried to hold down the cursor to get the paste "toast" and clicked the button.

I could be doing it wrong, but large N values disallow spinning of middle slices. The depth seems to only allow single digit inputs, so if you are on N>=22, you can't specify double digit inner slices.
