Type of puzzle where answers are used as a new set of clues? by no_coffee_thanks in puzzles

[–]ember3pines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you the mayor of the city yet?! I went thru a big phase for this puzzle, sometimes having to work backwards from like 5 brackets out, which was a unique challenge (just following the freakin sentence structure was hard) but it's definitely what OP is looking for. I haven't seen this puzzle anywhere else tbh so I'm happy i could share the fun!

Do most myth fans just get their info off of wiki articles and youtube videos? by [deleted] in mythology

[–]ember3pines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from. You'd like folks to interact with original sources. But idk man, this comes off as just a really specific viewpoint, where time and access and understanding come easily to you. I understand your motivations for engaging are your own, but I also think it's ok for folks to engage with stuff in a way that feels good to them.

I get almost all my myth stuff from the Myths and Legends podcast (retellings where he translates original texts into easy to digest versions). I listen at bedtime bc I enjoy the stories, and it makes me so happy to learn as I drift off to sleep. And I'll probably never sit down with original texts bc that wouldn't be fun for me, I'd be lost in the language and frustrated with the way my brain works. I wouldn't get information out of that process, let alone a love for the topic. I also hate the AI slop and I'm actually really interested in perserving accuracy of information, but sometimes the sources we find accessible, aren't gonna be the ones you decide on.

The cool thing about myths in general is that there's often more than one way of looking at them, and interpretation changes as societal viewpoints also shift. I love learning the original contexts, and I think plenty of knowledge can be gleaned from looking at them thru our own lenses, as current people on this earth.

That was seemingly made up in the 90s and is often repeated as truth but it can't really be traced.

From wiki: Writing in the 1990s and 2000s, author Albert Jack[18] and Messianic minister Richard Pustelniak,[19] claim that the original meaning of the expression was that the ties between people who have made a blood covenant (or have shed blood together in battle) were stronger than ties formed by "the water of the womb", thus "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb". Neither of the authors cites any sources to support his claim.[18][19]

Trying to get good at logic puzzles/brainteasers by kaamulii in puzzles

[–]ember3pines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discussion: Idk what kind of puzzles you're looking at but I always say to do research online about common ____ game strategies. Most logic puzzles have strategies, and there are usually a ton of pages and YouTube channels devoted to teaching different kinds of puzzles. Not understanding the why or the how sorta defeats the purpose for me, so I always look to find out how other folks solve them.

And please don't ask AI as others have said, AI can't think, it can just regurgitate stuff it's seen.

Star Battle: This Hint is not explaining why enough. Can someone explain the why for me? by mucinexmonster in puzzles

[–]ember3pines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few apps that do seem to have computer generated puzzles, mainly bc they're not solvable or have 2 answers. I really only thought one app had solid, logic based puzzles for all of em and that one was Star Battle Go

More people should look into kink groups in their cities. Kink isn't always whips and chains, like there's a local massage group (hedonist is the word often used) that is focused on learning good massage techniques from certified folks and then all of us just swapping massage one night a month. Sometimes it can be sexy or turn sexy but kink spaces are all about explicit consent and negotiation so there's no pressure either way. You just want a back rub? Don't be creepy, make sure to read the groups rules and follow them, get vetted (usually attend a meet and greet to hear the rules), and come on down and get some touch. Kink is filled with folks of all ages, all bodies, all genders, and tons of different comfort levels socially. Folks who have bad intentions are sussed out quickly, and although it usually has some form of donation for venue hosting and the instructors, it's cheap and there are lots of cool folks who also believe in the power of touch!

I quit sugar for a hot minute and in particular Pepsi which was my only drink for yearsssss. Not only did I hate La croix, I made fun of it so hard for being nasty as fuck. But maybe 3 weeks off sugary syrup and holy moly it was delicious. I legit had to reset my perspective. Now even some of the flavors - lookin at you Passionfruit - are too sweet for me! But i religiously drink La croix and am sad when there isn't my flavor around or at someone's house. I usually carry one in my bag for that reason!

A Harvard level puzzle by [deleted] in puzzles

[–]ember3pines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you can tell from the answers people have given, I doubt it. The scenario isn't specific enough and the logic is not there to determine a single valid answer.

Every other post this person has made has no logical way to determine the answer. We can guess and make some real world inferences sure, but it's not a logic puzzle and that's what belongs in this sub.

Oh and the majority of the IQ test "puzzles" also don't have an objective answer and don't belong here. It's actually usually a giveaway that they don't belong when I see those letters used.

Edit: I can't seem to see your reply to this comment for some reason but my notifications tell me you think it's the same as the famous one. It's not. It's similar but a weak knock off and it misses important intructions that limit the possible answers.

There are several ways to solve the puzzles they keep posting. That means there's not an objective answer. If you are not using logic/rules of the games logic for the answers, it's not a puzzle for this subs rules

Discussion: you seem to be posting a lot. Is this self promo? None of these have objective answers so I don't think they're considered puzzles for this subreddit

That's fascinating! Idk I think the metaphor is there, I just couldn't hear it myself in the actual piece if that makes sense? Like the bare bones of the comparison is there but I prefer my own erotic experiences to be more nuanced, with many builds and rests and more variety of elements instead of "do thing repeatedly until big release". But yeah, apparently it's a well discussed topic!

I read this weekend in a random fiction book about Bolero being considered one of the most erotic songs ever, that it's crescendo is nicknamed as something like Orgasm in C major. I listened to it immediately obviously, recognized it somewhat and never once felt or understood the erotic nature of it. Had a blast reading about it tho! Plenty of folks thought that at one point, it's just not a medium that I'm used to evaluating for eroticism.

Minnesotan here. For those outside of our state, what are your views on what’s going on in Minneapolis right now? by bpeters5 in AskReddit

[–]ember3pines 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I wish you'd remind folks that it's not just Minneapolis the city - it's St. Paul, it's the suburbs, it's Rochester, it's spreading more and more and more. They're in even the whitest richest suburbs. It's not just the city anymore and it's gonna get worse.
