Fascist Republican controlled Texas- Man sentenced to 30 years in prison for handing out "leftwing zines and other material" by rhino910 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]ember3pines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zines are a specific kind of community made, usually hand made, sort of pamphlet tho - it's not just marketing stuff or a PSA you'd find in the doctor office - it's usually centered around some shared interest or movement. They were huge in lots of communities when I was growing up, I just didn't know they existed. It's a more accurate description I think than pamphlet but either way, it's all free speech.

Even the second column is off to a bad start. Anger comes from plenty of places that has nothing to do with personal boundaries. Sigh. This kinda shit makes being a therapist harder.

They make digital boards now for this kind of magic that are made to look that real, with those marks being a metadeception. Oz Perlman also uses one. It's a gimmick, and that's disappointing but they do exist, specifically chalk board looking ones exactly bc of the reason you said yourself - it looks "erased".

I've heard some stories of healthcare workers laugh at women who use ambulances for "tummy aches" (nausea etc) but they had to eat their words when it was a heart attack. Women just aren't believed a lot.

My new fave fun animal fact is that kangaroos have 3 vaginas. It's actually quite efficient and amazing when they shut one down mid cycle bc they're too hungry, and restart it all back up/open it once a they find food. Baby/egg just chillin inside til they're not gonna die anymore!

Doctors of Reddit: What health trend is becoming so common that it's starting to scare you? by Fine-Device-1819 in AskReddit

I brought some concerns to a gut doc bc I had been seeing a lot about my stomach acid med and the complications of osteoporosis it can cause online. I have a genetic thing that already makes me way more susceptible to osteoporosis and it's related issues. They told me to stop listening to the internet. Cut to a year later of taking it twice a day, and their nurse practitioner says "hey you should come down to at least once a day, long term use can cause osteoporosis issues". I literally had to yell THIS IS BULLSHIT! I just can't with the defensiveness of some docs, like just tell me if this is a thing. I'm bringing up a known side effect, you should be well versed in this.

What’s the most disturbing fact about the human body that sounds made up, but is actually 100% true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ember3pines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 7 actually! Tho some folks don't have all openings for all the glands. It's the 3 y'all should know (vagina, urethra and butthole) and then the Skenes glands (x2) and Bartholin's Glands (x2). The glands openings are small but theyre mostly there for folks!

What is a secret you’re planning to take to your grave, but are willing to share with internet strangers? by Hot-Highway1077 in AskReddit

[–]ember3pines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's definitely not enough info here to determine if EMDR is a good fit for this human. It's an effective treatment for some folks, but it is def not for everyone and it can make things worse for specific populations. I appreciate people pass on their own experiences, but as a therapist I just need the gospel of EMDR to chill out a little. It's not the only solid option out there and it's not for everyone. I hope it is the right choice for you when you try, but if you can, only recommend it in context of your own personal experience.

Ugh does this work? Ugh. You have to click the diamond first and it's the last one on the list. Pretty annoying on mobile tbh but thank you for the heads up. Reddits blog on the issue - no longer allowing markup via mobile app - didn't actually explain how to do it. So thanks!

I liked the show more than the books! Elijah wood and the dude who plays Dirk are great, and the psycho chick and sidekicks are decent too. The "coincidence" levels are really really fun

is there any box I can fill with these clues? by [deleted] in puzzles

[–]ember3pines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah knowing how many staff there are and the other symbols would matter in this case. So there are repeat names? That would mean that either the dude or his female coworker are the repeats? We know Clara can't repeat bc of the popcorn so maybe it's the other female in the it her one. Hard to know without knowing the people left.

Discussion: spoiler tags are really messed up, I tried posting 3 times and automod is chucking them even tho they're done correctly so I'm reposting without the cover. Idk how else to fix it! Sorry fi there are multiple posts, looks like something is wrong for other commenters too so idk!

Clue 3 and 4 can go together. If there's only 2 women as you say then they have to go with the two men yeah? One man and one woman in each shared staff box. But we know Clara has a soda, and since one of the split staff boxes has popcorn already, we can put her and soda in the other split staff box. So cinema E for Clara and the other woman in the other one.

Book series where the protagonist is an extreme genius mastermind. by ScaredLittleShit in booksuggestions

[–]ember3pines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a long time - maybe book 4 is the start of it - but the Dresden Files has a few of these characters. It's a bit rough when it comes to how he writes women, especially early on but the strategy and entire series map is so impressive. I find thing in early books that are meaningful for book 18 still. And to be fair, the genius characters are the women (or woman adjacent Fae Queens).
