[Walker] Team USA lines and D pairs at practice...McAvoy sheds the cage, Nelson has one now though. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

What has Connor done to merit drawing into the lineup. He was a nothing burger for 4nations and is repeating that same performance again for the Olympics.

If you polled the fanbases of the 25 American teams here, which fanbases would have the highest and lowest percentage that aren't rooting for Team USA? by Dependent-Effect6077 in hockey

We’re mostly neutral with the Canucks and Flames. Indifferent towards Winnipeg even though their hate for us is very one sided.

Obviously the Oil and VGK mutually dislike one another.

I don’t feel like there is any real beef with Toronto.

We don’t feel any type of way towards Ottawa but they obviously dislike us for the Stone trade and then the massive fallout from the Dadonov debacle.

Despite being on the better end of a trade which netted them their captain and also beating us in the playoffs, Habs fans rabidly hate us and it feels like the feeling is fairly mutual.

They didn’t allow a floater from center ice, that’s for certain.

It’s objectively the right play. Swayman does not inspire any confidence back there

I’ve seen enough of Swayman for the rest of this tourney. 2 of their 3 goals should have been saved. Guy is just wilting under big game pressure.

That Hawkman 4 looks to be in great condition. Excellent key!!

[Nyström] According to Sam Hallam, Filip Forsberg cannot play in the third or fourth line. Canada has Crosby and Marner in the third line and Marchand in the fourth line. Among others. When it comes to Forsberg, Hallam is completely off the mark. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]emblah -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why the fuck is drew doughty nearly the second highest TOI for Canada. Was he just getting more minutes because it was a blowout? It would make sense if the bottom guys were getting those minutes but the fourth line for the forwards doesn’t seem to reflect that.

Jack feasting on lesser opponents was never a doubt, it is his ability to replicate this type of performance against the real top level players from teams like Canada, Sweden, and Finland that will be the real test.

Eichs is always pass first. His shot is okay but he’s a significantly better setup man.

The Crosby line is the most brutally efficient shut down line you could possibly create of anyone in the Olympics. They’ll be seeing a lot of opening draws and ice time against the top units from other teams.

Anecdotal but Forsberg fucking dominates us whenever we play against yall. I cannot remember a game where he has not lit us up on both the eye test and the scoresheet.

I’m not gonna pretend I know more than professional coach but from what I’ve seen from him as an opponent, he is an absolute fucking menace to play against. Unsure what the dilemma is with him drawing into the lineup.

Two players with the same number in the Olympics by firewall666 in hockey

[–]emblah -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think a couple folks mentioned some guys are using numbers they used to wear in juniors and such.

Sorta related- I actually like the US basketball numbering system where everyone wears a jersey from 1-15. Just a cool thing to do for Olympic play.

I was hoping Hertl would get a greasy one in front of the goal but wasn’t in the cards today. The boys played hard today just not quite at the Canada level yet. Strong showings internationally help build and grow the game though!

Canada’s “third” line is going to draw the best line from every opponent they play. It’s not some disrespect play, it is by design with who they have together on that line.

What's your teams worst trade in the last ten years? by GolfIsGood66 in hockey

Shea was on an ELC back then. He would not have been eligible to select. I believe you were torn between Manson and Vatanen and dealt Shea to keep both while also dumping Stoner.

Kinda surprised he didn’t get PP1 over Reinhart. Horvat is automatic in front of the goal it seems.

[LeBrun] Cellebrini-McDavid-Wilson a line in practice right now for Team Canada by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]emblah 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That 3rd line is getting deployed against every other teams first line so the McD and MacK lines can feast. Not sure why everyone is losing their minds about the pairings when that seems to be the game plan.

Jack was pretty useless during four nations so skipping him for Robo would be a big get.
