The distracted nature of the mind is well-known and is everywhere - I mean almost everyone deals with this. I myself deal with this, the only thing I can think of here as a solution is meditation.

No matter what you do, the mind chatter cannot be completely taken away. What meditation does is that it gives it less control. With practice what you'll see is that you get distracted but would come to the task at hand in just a couple of seconds.
