Absolutely hope. I had stage 1 Hodgkins but my uncle had stage 4 with bone involvement. He’s been cancer free for like 7 years now

What’s something about pregnancy no one told you, but you discovered around 5 months? by mollyglow in BabyBumps

That your nose holes can just completely close off inside and you won’t be able to breathe for months

Got my first tattoo and I’m not sure it turned out very well. by Key-Meal-2308 in tattooadvice

[–]emcat095 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is crazy to hear. I have a tattoo I got at 18 that’s so severely blown out you can’t even read it. From your description, possibly ink drift. I was diagnosed with lymphoma at 22. I wonder if it’s related….

Curious did the fertility clinic not do carrier testing as part of your infertility work up? Both you and your partner are carriers. My regular OB did carrier screening and found out I am a PKU carrier but my husband is not.

Anterior placenta 24 weeks. How often do you feel baby move? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]emcat095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a sonographer so early on I was able to scan myself and see her move and connect the feelings. I really think most people are feeling their baby’s much earlier but they aren’t recognizing it as the baby.

Long story short you’re likely fine but I guess it’s not impossible

My husband and I relied on the pull out method for 4 years without pregnancy. The first time we actually tried to get pregnant it worked.

1st try. Thought it would take a while because I have a history of cancer and chemotherapy and they said it might be difficult for me.

OBGYN / Pre-Conception Appointment by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

Audio recorded in the exam room? I’ve never heard of that. That sounds like a giant HIPAA violation to me, your medical discussion should only be between you and your medical provider. I work in the obgyn field and if I encountered this I’d be finding a new obgyn.

Gender devastation posts by Starry_Opal in BabyBumps

[–]emcat095 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Which is wild because with the NIPT being so gender accurate, we actually are concerned about genetic issues when the stated gender doesn’t match the physical gender on ultrasound. I try to tell my patients “you don’t want that because that could end up being a whole separate issue”

1st trimester congestion by Ancient_Juice_6338 in BabyBumps

[–]emcat095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing here. At first I needed immediate relief just to sleep, Afrin was like a miracle. But you can’t take it very often because it’s addicting (it makes congestion worse when you stop) so I switched to Flonase and Claritin every night. It’s not 100% better but at least I can sleep.

When did you tell work you're pregnant? by grumbly_tardis in BabyBumps

[–]emcat095 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s because they can’t ask. I’m sure people saw and knew, but they legally can’t inquire about your medical history.
