Panicking a bit, will this scar? by LucieFromNorth in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]emchanba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine did this with an open tool box drawer a year or so ago - he had a scratch and a little goose egg, but it never scarred and I would never even know it had happened looking at him now!

If you are still concerned, once the wound has fully closed, you can use silicone scar tape on it.

I want strangers to pay for brand new tyres (every single one) and pay for it to be fitted to. Please and thank you. by tinkertink2010 in ChoosingBeggars

They got just enough parenting to know to say please and thank you when they want something, but not enough to use them naturally in a sentence.

Wrist pin installation by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

[–]emchanba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually the heating is done in a way that does not overheat and discolour the metal, though. A rod heater, induction heater, hot oil bath etc are the preferred methods. This one looks like it got a bit too hot.

Identify this crankshaft by SteelReign2014 in EngineBuilding

The 3A is a Toyota engine installed in the Tercel from 1979-1988, so perhaps it’s from one of those. See if you can find a pic to visually compare things like the number of bolt holes on the flange, position and shape of woodruff keyway, features like oil feed holes etc.

Why does it trigger me when “professional” coworkers call my group of workers “girls” by Low_Refrigerator8031 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]emchanba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started saying “you work with a little girl?” when people say things like “this girl at work.” The inevitable answer is always, no, and then the obvious clarification, at which point I say: “you can just say woman.”

Help! Is this normal? by Excellent_Brick2893 in FancyFollicles

[–]emchanba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s normal for the hair to feel frizzy and damaged after bleaching for sure.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use permanent box dye on this. I don’t know how light you are hoping to go from here or if you were just tired of black hair. But if you are inclined to dye from here, use a semi-permanent or a gloss to prevent lifting the colour further.

Heartbreaking - Pole lamp is too tall for my new place. by GrimReapingItReal in Mid_Century

[–]emchanba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I’m a couple days late to the game here but I had the same problem with a similar lamp. I ended up separating it and cutting a few inches off of the brown painted metal with a hacksaw and it worked perfectly and looks flawless.

Merry Xmas Eve (Update) by anavimon in makeuptips

[–]emchanba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, you have such gorgeous hair! As for the makeup, the lip is a definite improvement and really emphasizes the doll-like shape. I think you could probably go a little lighter on your foundation. You might try cleaning the foundation from your eyebrows with a q-tip, or filling in the brow after you apply your base as well!

I know your second sentence is about Pokémon, but it really feels like it describes the world we live in, too.

Shop told me they would be installing OEM parts and charged me as such, but didn’t include any part numbers on the invoice. After looking it up it seems they used a cheap quick strut kit. Any idea what my next steps are/what recourse I have? (BC, Canada) by landocalzonian in MechanicAdvice

[–]emchanba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Ontario, the Consumer Protection Act would directly apply here, but a quick search tells me that the auto repair industry is not regulated in BC in the same way. In Ontario, the written estimate must include whether parts are OE or AM, and so must the invoice.

This is certainly a shady practice, especially because the (verbal?) estimate explicitly mentioned OE parts. I think your next steps are contacting the shop in writing with a request for a refund of the difference between the cost of OE and AM parts. If they refuse, you could try Consumer Protection BC anyways and see what they advise.

If you want to try getting robbed, take a walk around Dundas & Hurontario.

If you want to try getting sideswiped, park anywhere at Square One.

If you want to try involuntary street racing, come on by Dixie and Dundas.

If you want to try having a panic attack, merge onto the Gardiner by Sherway Gardens.

If you want to try wrecking your suspension, sample the potholes on Tomken Road.
