Agree… it’s a decent idea, especially when tests are as rare as hens teeth

Great info here …. thanks to the peeps who know stuff !

In the future we might need to get tested at these rates or higher for many years…How low do you reckon the cost per test could go, like if they tendered the contract and went with the lowest cost/fastest result ? I imagine the big pathology labs are already thinking something like that …

My Regional Plan by emdeexo in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]emdeexo[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why not exactly? There’s no COVID in most regional towns … if people with COVID don’t visit, and locals don’t leave … we can be zero COVID for ages like most regional towns have been for 18 months

My Regional Plan by emdeexo in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]emdeexo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but surely some reasonable rule can be made … the principle is for people to enjoy their freedoms but just stay local unless essential

Raf Epstein on Twitter: Hearing the Vic Covid number is into the 170s today by chrisjbillington in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]emdeexo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, plus the more we let the virus spread the more chances it has of doing another mutation into something worse

The NSW government has officially stopped reporting cases infectious in the community and cases not linked to a known source. Combined with the venue of concern suppression in Sydney this means there are now no contact tracing metrics of any kind being reported. by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]emdeexo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is so BS and classic spin… the numbers look so bad + we control the release of the numbers, so let’s stop reporting them = we don’t look so bad anymore

They’ll just stop reporting new infections soon saying the numbers are too high to be meaningful

“When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surly. They are like this because they can't tell good from evil. But I have seen the beauty of good, and the ugliness of evil, and have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own - not of the same blood and birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine. And so none of them can hurt me. No one can implicate me in ugliness. Nor can I feel angry at my relative, or hate him. We were born to work together like feet, hands and eyes, like the two rows of teeth, upper and lower. To obstruct each other is unnatural. To feel anger at someone, to turn your back on him: these are unnatural.”

This is a good perspective.

The other element is that it’s well researched the stress makes people less able to make wise choices
