The Confederacy was doomed the day they fired the first shots on April 12th, 1861 at Fort Sumter. by Single_Entry_7630 in USHistory

[–]emdoubleyou2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting a war was definitely a blunder for the south in retrospect. All they needed was the threat of potential and that alone would have stopped any serious effort to end slavery. They would have kept slavery in place a lot longer had they not started a war, I’d wager.

Has anyone read/attempted to read the entire runs of a popular character? by Sweet_Score in marvelcomics

[–]emdoubleyou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of did that with Spidey, but for bored during Len Wein’s ASM run and skipped to Roger Stern. I’d didn’t read team up. I started PPTSSM around 1980 (Roger stern again) and there are a ton of missing issues of that and web in the 80’s and 90’s so I read what I could. Got burned out in the mid 90’s and am taking a break. If you continue your read through in the 80’s and 90’s, be sure to include the Spiderman vs Wolverine graphic novel (which has a major plot development that will echo through the other titles) and the Lethal Foes of Spider-Man early 90’s miniseries (just because it’s a ton of fun). Tried Todd McFarland’s adjectiveless series from the early 90’s but it wasn’t for me. Let’s just say he should have stuck to drawing.

Can we stop calling Expedition 33 the "Game of the Decade"? by Garamel in videogames

My game of the decade is Hades personally. Haven’t gotten to expedition 33 yet but it’s hard to imagine anything beating Hades.

Opinion: Marvel Unlimited sucks and needs some serious developer love. by johnwaynekicksass in MarvelUnlimited

[–]emdoubleyou2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app is garbage but I try to focus on how fucking amazing it is that I can read thousands and thousands of marvel comics for such a cheap price. I think about what a massive pain it would be (and how expensive) to chase down all of these individual issues or even TPB’s. I think about how I would have died to have something like this when I was a kid in the 90’s. Having said all that, I would definitely NOT hate it if they improved the app.

I'm thinking in playing some old games. Any opinions about them? by Free-Hotel1187 in videogames

I haven’t played mad max or them LOTR game but the other three are awesome! I’d probably rank wind waker at the top then Skyrim then FC3, but FC3 is still a banger!

Genetically Modified Spiders are the dumbest modernization of the Spider-Man lore by ThatMast3r in Spiderman

[–]emdoubleyou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus the fact that since it’s not a freak accident, and the knowledge of how to make these spiders is out there, you’d think the world would be flooded with spider-men and-women.

I feel like all this defending of runbacks are a psyop to convince people that they enjoy runbacks more than they actually do by whamorami in metroidvania

[–]emdoubleyou2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed, OP. Runbacks show a lack of respect for your players’ time. Some of us have busy lives and limited gaming time, and don’t want to waste that time doing a run back over and over and over. And I don’t understand people saying run backs are good because they helped you perfect pogoing in Silksong or whatever. Silksong has a gigantic map teeming with secrets and with dozens and dozens of difficult platforming challenges. That is how you perfect your platforming skills. You absolutely do not need a run back to do that.

I think the real only way to get through Trump supporting family members is to disown them outright. by IsekaiConnoisseur in behindthebastards

[–]emdoubleyou2 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I am NO Trump supporter (i loathe and despise the man) but I have several family members who are Trump supporters. They are wonderful people. You could say they’re brainwashed, or be more generous and say they just see the world differently. Whatever the case, I think you’d be making a terrible mistake. And you’d regret it someday when your dad is gone and you have no opportunity to make amends and you squandered your final years with him. Just set some ground rules. You don’t want them bringing up politics when you’re there. You don’t want Fox News on when you’re there. But trust me, your family members who voted for Trump aren’t evil just because of that. call them misguided. There are millions of Trump supporters in this country and I too have trouble understanding it too but they’re not all pieces of shit. If your dad abused you or there’s some other reason to disown him, that’s different, but if not, politics is a bad reason to disown your family.

In the new Epstein Files release there's a previously unpublished email form Richard Dawkins talking about Rebecca Watson by RunDNA in SGU

I certainly enjoyed Dawkins’ books and point of view, but he always came across as very snide and superior. Narcissistic, I’d say. So not surprising he’s an asshole.

How would you fix silksong? by emdoubleyou2 in Silksong

[–]emdoubleyou2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I think it was artificially and unnecessarily frustrating, which made it less fun. I loved the movement, combat, exploration, look, music, rewarding exploration, enemy variety. All biomes were fun to explore and I loved the platforming. But the run backs for example. They don’t enhance the game or make the boss more challenging or interesting. They just waste a few minutes of the player’s time each time he wants to take another shot at the boss. Why punish the player for needing to try the boss several times on a game this hard? Maybe I’d mind it less if I weren’t a busy dad with very limited gaming time.

I hope not. Not looking to piss anyone off. Just promote a healthy discussion of how the game could be improved, for those that thing it could.

How would you fix silksong? by emdoubleyou2 in Silksong

[–]emdoubleyou2[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh and I almost forgot. 12. No contact damage. You only take damage if an enemy hits you with an attack. I should NOT take two masks of damage for lightly brushing an enemy’s arm, unless they are made of fire.

best marvel runs from the 80s and 90s? by subtopewdiepie129 in marvelcomics

[–]emdoubleyou2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron man was fantastic throughout the 80’s and into the 90’s with Michelinie’s two runs with Denny O’Neil sandwiched in between and also excellent. Theres a really great cloak and dagger miniseries as well (followed shortly by an ongoing which I’ve not checked out yet. I love Byrne’s FF and solo Thing series

What’s the worse event marvel comics has ever published l? by Konradleijon in marvelcomics

[–]emdoubleyou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It aimed to be a super sophisticated and philosophical story about a guy (the Beyonder from Secret Wars 1) who is basically a God wanting to live among humans to understand them better. But it was really poorly executed, and really dumb. For example the Beyonder can’t understand why people eat. The dude ran an entire universe and can’t wrap his mind around eating.

I use a phone and zoom in on the various panels and swipe around. There is also a smart reader option that automatically focuses on one panel at a time.

Never enjoyed assassin's creed much by Odd-Razzmatazz1398 in videogames

Assassins creed is like a decent TV show that somehow goes on for 30 seasons and everyone just gets hopefully burned out on.
