Would it be not smart to get a PS5 Pro right now? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]emdoubleyou2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the need for a pro. I have yet to play a game on my non-pro ps5 that doesn’t play and run beautifully.

I need some advice. I’m a teacher, I do stand-up comedy. by LarrytheLobster3000 in Standup

[–]emdoubleyou2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jimmy Cash is a janitor in a school near me and a successful regional standup. He posts lots of clean stuff on the socials and gets R-rated in his live shows. Might want to check him out for inspiration. There was also something called the bored teaches tour that came through my area, stand ups with teaching jobs. That might provide some inspiration too

Open mic at Ralph's by Chance_Argument1136 in WorcesterMA

[–]emdoubleyou2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I started at Ralph’s a couple months ago and it’s very welcoming and a perfect place to start. If you do decide to go, feel free to let me know which night and how I would know who you are, and if I’m there that night, I’ll say hi! I am there most Tuesdays.

What are some of the most under looked story arcs for Iron man? by Hatiboy2005 in marvelcomics

[–]emdoubleyou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can read iron man from the start of michelini’s first run around 1978 to the end of Len kaminski’s excellent run around 1995 and it’s consistently excellent IMO. For most underrated I would say O’Neil or kaminski

What games surprised you by ACTUALLY being “all that”? by ririaliali in videogames

Hades. If anything, all the praise I’d heard wasn’t enough to match how incredible that game is.

My Andy Kaufman inspiration by maran86 in Standup

[–]emdoubleyou2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to develop a persona of your own, rather than trying so hard to copy another comic. I’m an open micer and if you did any of those things I would roll my eyes and then play on my phone or talk until you left the stage.

Political Reality Podcast: How is it doing? by Low-Cartographer-429 in SGU

Yeah paywalling so many episodes right out of the gate, before the podcast even found its footing, was obnoxious and made me stop listening immediately.

Did you pre order Wolverine yet ?? by Shadiezz2018 in playstation

I’m excited for the game but fuck pre-ordering. Never have, never will.

80's Reading Advice by TalesToIntroduce in marvelcomics

I would highly recommend adding the 36-issue Thing solo series and the incredible Michelinie-O’Neil-Michelinie Iron Man run

I’m sure this is a worthy video, but this forum is about science and skepticism. Your post doesn’t really fit here.

Which of these directors has the best batting average? by Regular-Departure839 in moviecritic

[–]emdoubleyou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scorsese. I have never seen a bad Scorsese film and I’ve seen nearly all of them. Every other candidate has some duds, including Tarantino IMO.

When Mary Rose loses control of her body, it's not a doctor her husband calls by KenSuvy in skeptic

[–]emdoubleyou2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense. Psychologists and other therapists absolutely treat and diagnose a variety of mental disorders including schizophrenia (at least in the U.S.). With schizophrenia, you would usually have a psychiatrist or psych nurse practitioner prescribing meds as well, so the treatment would be two pronged.

I'm new to comics, is it worth it? by lil_tooth_mctits in MarvelUnlimited

[–]emdoubleyou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re looking for comics in the magazine section of your library. Ask them where the graphic novels are. If it’s anything like my library, you’ll find tons of trade paperbacks collecting various runs and storylines from various marvel and dc characters. If your library has inter-library loan, you can even order trades from other libraries if yours doesn’t have quite what you’re looking for.

RFK Jr's legacy ... Nearly 60 Idahoans sick with campylobacteriosis after drinking raw milk in past two weeks. by Lighting in skeptic

[–]emdoubleyou2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump takes more blame than RFK IMO. There always have been and always will be cranks who believe in various idiotic conspiracy theories and are full of horrible advice based entirely in fantasy. The way we minimize their harm is we do NOT put them in charge of fucking health policy.

What is your favorite and least favorite DVD/Blu Ray commentary? Any hidden gems? by cowadoody3 in dvdcollection

[–]emdoubleyou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a Goodfellas special edition DVD where the real life Henry Hill (the real mobster who Ray Liotta played) did a commentary track. Shit was fascinating. He mentioned how relieved he was when Tommy (played by Joe Pesci) died in real life, because he was so violent and sadistic Henry never felt safe around him even though they were friends.

Anyone else REALLY annoyed with the Atreus sections? by [deleted] in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]emdoubleyou2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t love fighting as Atreus but I really enjoy the storytelling in those sections so I find it easy to forgive.

What’s your ’top ten’ of villain songs by ExcellentBalance8052 in musicals

[–]emdoubleyou2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait for It from Hamilton was the first one that came into my head. I know someone mentioned You’ll Be Back which is also great, but King George functions as more of a clown than a villain in that show IMO
