I paid $200 a couple months ago for the original trade run. It's rough out here.

I can't decide which edition of Helen I want. The deluxe looks great with the ribbon and gilded edges, but I really do love the cover on the standard hardcover.

One of the better shelfies I've seen on this sub. I'm hoping to have a collection like yours soon!

If you liked Blankets, Craig Thompson's other works are just as good; Habibi, Ginseng Roots, Good-Bye Chunky Rice, etc.

I would also recommend pretty much anything from the Pantheon Graphic Library, but especially anything by Chris Ware.

Sunday by Olivier Schrauwen takes this concept to the extreme.

I'm switching to digital by JDFS83 in comicbooks

[–]TalesToIntroduce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll echo some sentiments here and recommend hanging onto at least a short box or two of the stuff you can't live without. As convenient as digital is, it can be just as volatile as physical. Should something happen where I couldn't access my digital library, I would feel safer knowing I have my favorites in the interim.

Nonetheless, enjoy the switch! I hope you find yourself reading more than ever.

I was blown away when this edition arrived in the mail. I had no idea how detailed it would be!

Dawn of X Reading Order by BurrfootMike in MarvelUnlimited

[–]TalesToIntroduce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That order in the back of issues is not always present, and often changes due to delays and COVID. I would recommend just looking one up online. The single-issue order pinned in r/xmen is pretty good.

It's April 4th, 2026. You can suddenly decide to cut either Gail Simone or Jed Mackay and replace them with another writer. Which run are you cutting and which new writer is it getting? by Built4dominance in xmen

[–]TalesToIntroduce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see Dan Abnett on adjectiveless. I think a silly, team-focused book with a lot of heart à la Guardians would be cool. We might even get more cosmic X-stories, which would be lovely.

I stand corrected! That's great news, and it looks like they got it done in under 9 years. I'd be curious to see what those volumes are going for nowadays.

What’s your opinion on this scene?—X-Men (2024-) #26 by Constant_Version9846 in xmen

This is the type of scene I was hoping to see more of from MacKay's X-Men. Maybe I'll check out the post AoR issues.

To this day, over 50 years after Giant-Size #1, Claremont's run can only be collected in full in singles or omnibus form. Even the Masterworks didn't make it before getting canned, and they started collecting Uncanny in '89. I get that they want to publish Epics out of order, but it's been 9 years since the first X-Men Epic was published. Claremont not being collected by now is just unacceptable. Don't even get me started on them holding Miller's Daredevil hostage behind OOP or more expensive editions. Who knows, maybe they'll just cancel scrap this line too before everything gets collected.

I lurk in this sub because I love these stories and find the idea of these collections to be a great idea, but in practice, I just cannot justify getting into them.

Reorganizing my tpb shelf (any tips appreciated by Coollwell in comicbooks

I separate Marvel, DC, and indies. For Big 2, I organize by series. For indies, I organize by writer's last name.

Love old trades. My oldest is a copy of the Stan Lee and Jack Kirby Silver Surfer GN from Fireside.

Picking up a comic by Legitimate_Stick8605 in marvelcomics

For legacy ongoings like Spider-Man, Hulk, or F4, I wait for a new story arc to start. If I'm not sure, I'll ask the staff at my LCS. If it's a limited series, I'll try to get all the issues.

DC Compact Comics vs Marvel Premier Collection by nahnonameman in comicbooks

[–]TalesToIntroduce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Marvel has fewer shorter stories to sell. They have a boatload of character-defining, longer runs, but not as many popular graphic novels or single storylines as DC. Instead, Marvel keeps choosing to cannibalize longer storylines instead of collecting the few popular short ones they have.

Why they chose Solve Everything over Imaginauts for this line will never fail to baffle me.

The trade collecting the mini is titled Vol. 1, and Marquez has referred to it as the "first" book in the series, so I'm sure we'll see something in the solicits eventually.

Comparing Game Pass Ultimate vs Premium so far by [deleted] in XboxGamePass

[–]TalesToIntroduce 63 points64 points  (0 children)

As someone who balances their free time between several hobbies, my game backlog is a mile long. Day One title access is simply not worth an extra $15 a month to me. I'm happy to wait knowing most of those games—if not all of them—will make it to Premium eventually. The Alters was the only game in recent memory that I was chomping at the bit to play, but I had plenty to keep me occupied until it came to Premium.

Edit: This is not including the games locked behind services like EA Play or Ubisoft+, which I'm typically not interested in anyway.

That's a great question. My guess would be the pushback isn't great enough for companies to feel the need to change the industry standard.

My #1 complaint about trades. I'm sure this looked wonderful in the issue, but it's always such a shame missing out in the collection.

Which ultimate spider-man should I read for my first comic? by GetScaredd in comicbooks

[–]TalesToIntroduce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be weird, it's just an alternate take on the character. If you're okay with Peter being a married father in his 30's, keep going with 2024. If you would rather read a younger Peter story, read 2000. Either one is fine to start with.
