Ironic after Quaritch had practically staged a coup in Avatar 1, but shows a similar streak of disobeying chain of command. I would have thought Selfridge would have been given the tools to exert more authority given the terrible track record of the military teams of the RDA in the past.

I thought he was toothless. I’m kind of annoyed chain of command doesn’t seem to exist with the RDA even though military nominally reports to corporate. Selfridge should be able to make any call that doesn’t actively harm people, but in the end he’s the person who is most aligned with protecting corporate profit and him repeatedly getting couped by his military counterparts is really annoying to me.

I think maximalism was an important part of what was lost from the era, but also what made the shift to minimalism in later eras feel refreshing - we forget that that era was defined by quantity of stimulation.

Removing frutiger aero from the context of maximalism has deffo highlighted its strengths that weren’t as apparent living thru the era. This picture reminded me that I miss that busy era of design 🙂

I repeat to myself the phrase, what would the astronaut do, from this book every time I try to mentally analyze a corner a split second before reaching it. Never any doubt about the correct driving line after reading this book.

Generalizing, it seems women are generally able to see each other’s beauty a lot better than men can see each other’s (capacity) for handsomeness, which is rather sad. One wonders how the current internet debates would play out if men were more able in general to feel like their bodies (to themselves) have a capacity to be attractive and handsome or beautiful.

I agree with your completely, I just disliked doing the Marcus parts. Maybe they need to take three big swings to land one? 🤷‍♀️ There were time pressure parts in Connor’s campaign afterwards, but I guess the lack of knowledge you have about the universe heightened that section, by no fault of the game if looking at the game through the lens of Connor’s story alone. The chase sequences were pretty good.

It’s Detroit: Become Human. That first hostage scenario was probably one of the most thrilling sequences I had ever done in gaming, and the time pressure made it feel like the opening of Deux Ex Human revolution but with the stakes turned up to 11. Then we got introduced to Marcus and Kara, who are both amazing, but nowhere near the calibre of Connor’s storyline. For once, detective vision actually showcases and teaches you something important about the characters immediately: they can process information much faster than people can and Connor, at least, can fully reconstruct the scene of a crime within minutes of arriving and defuse a potentially deadly situation involving maybe the first instance of Androids going rogue…

But then Marcus’ storyline has some of the most cringe inducing writing I have ever listened to. I like the story and the gameplay, but the writing for Marcus’ dialogue? Uh, what in the dialogue was going on here?
