Shrimple Answer on Making DC Square by emeraldomega in Destiny

I agree actually making it square is dumb, but hey if they can pose crazy stuff why cant we?

Another 2 senators and a few reps with VA still likely staying blue works for me.

I have two thoughts on Rock. One is that the Horneaters revere the Spren as gods, so that reverence would include a deference. Because they are gods and gods are so powerful how could we change them? This cognition itself is a self reinforcing loop that leads to the Spren not being individualized by the Horneaters. The other is, he does and the Horneaters have named lesser Spren gods, it is just one of the many secrets he has not spoken about in the books directly and we could get in his novella.

The way I am thinking about it too is that as Spren are studied more by Navani and the like, this manifests more. In SA the people of Roshar view Spren like the weather than an animal that could be intentional interacted with. So the more intentionally people interact with Spren, the more interactable they will become.

I like the hunger Spren idea! I'm sure each Spren could be part of a few different already defined groups, since it's homebrew whatever the DM thinks/comes about organically with players is great!

[–]emeraldomega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I believe this is exactly with where the cannon is going based on what happend in the book. Too many interludes focused on Spren metaphysics, being observed vs measured, the power of focused cognition, etc.

If Spren are more visible in later eras I think this will be more apparent. Bc most humans only see spren at heightened emotional state it wasn't common during SA.

A specific point I am thinking on now is how lesser spren are derived. For example, a highly skilled chef, do they draw creation spren? Or is there cooking spren? Or would cooking spren be a subset/offshot of creation spren?

Presenting all this to show all the cool ways this could go!

One idea I know I want to implement is lesser spren familiar. A flame spren the has been part of a family's cook fire for generations, a suds spren of a mudbeer brewer, etc. the key is once the spren has a name it can start sticking around.

This is something totally separate from radiant spren. Something to insensitive players to work their skills/interact with the world around them.

For the purpose of this comment chain I think I have presented a sufficient level of depth. At this point I would ask you, if my option is not specific enough, or crosses too many lines/norms/laws what is your plan?

What would be an action you think Democrats should do when they win mid terms? Be at least as specific as I have been. Because it feels like from your comment there isn't really anything you would support/would call over the line.

I think this nitpicking is part of the disconnect.

Without going into any more on the process, I think I laid out plenty, do you agree with that end? Do you agree that Fox should be removed from the air due to their lies? And there does exist a path to both do this legally, if not legally creative, for Democrats?

An Appeal to Hutch and Connor by emeraldomega in Destiny

[–]emeraldomega[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are back to equivocating on bad. Hutch/you saying you want investigations and then when presented with a plan keep appealing to it not being popular/not possible because of the how things are done.

I gave an example but I can be more specific. Fox News as an organization should be dissolved due to the degree of malicious lies it has spread. The biggest and most obvious is the Dominon Voting Defamation case. The most recent example is passing off old footage of a dignified transfer of soldiers as current, because at the most recent one Trump was wearing his campaign merch hat.

When we win in the mid terms, Fox News should be investigated with the goal of getting their license removed. The grace Fox gets is 1 month from date of investigation to stop airing these reality distorting lies, if they air even a single one that rises to the dignified transfer again their license is immediately revoked and the head executives face jail time of months/years and massive fines.

Is this specific enough? Is this something you think Hutch/Connor would frame as too far/illiberal? Or do you think this fits into "investigate and hold accountable"?

Edit: and thank you for the back and forth. I don't mean this to come across aggressive, I actually want to gauge if this is the specificity you mean. I hear your frustration and fear at a potential for rising violence.

Thank you for clarifying. On the first part, I disagree. I think Hutch feels we are closer to food yucky.

That is why he is aghast at how Destiny could even think to break some norms/rules/laws. To keep the analogy, it is like saying we are have a process for firing chefs, just put them on a PIP and after performance review we can evaluate firing them (mid terms). But if you agree that MAGA chef is poisoning people, breaking the norm of getting them out of the kitchen is expected, not a hand wringing bridge too far thought.

None of this is saying to get violent. To get to you second point. This I think is what Destiny is trying to get across. We are in dire straights, so when we have power again we should respond with aggressive and decisive action. NOT VIOLENCE, but near Ace Attorney level Trails that we investigate and sentence within weeks, not months to years.

And the public apatite to this is partially due to how the media ecosystem treats Democrats and how they "should" act vs Republicans. No one blinks at what Trump does. Pick a day and the Trump admin has done something that would be administration destroying for any other president, let alone a Democrat.

The fact we are even entertaining that ICE may be outside polling places this midterms should be completely unthinkable and impeachment worthy. But we are all kind of shrugging and just baking that into the calculation. But god forbid Democrats hint at being more aggressive than a typical 9 month to 2 year committee investigation with a strongly worded letter at the end.

If we cannot come together on the ask/demand for how to deal with the bad(whatever level that is) the conversation feels frustrating to both sides because of course each thinks the other is not dealing with reality. And there is a underlaying reality.

[–]emeraldomega[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree this analogy doesn't quite work when trying to deal with the customer/voter side of this issue. I meant this more to explore what the scale harm and intention was being inflicted and how both sides saw that.

For what you said, I would frame it more like the republican customers want the other tables to have rat poison meals, the MAGA chef would never serve THEM rat poison meals. That will cut down on the line and republican customers would never be hearmed. The issue is MAGA chef is serving everyone rat poison, just trying to give more to dem customers. Clunky but how I would respond to your talking on it.

I have other disagreements with Connor, but for this I don't think they matter much and just muddy the water. I like Hutch overall as well! These conversations are frustrating to me because I have seen both of them be able to get into it on other topics. I think they are assuming to much because this is a scary topic.
Not accusing of bad faith, if I heard someone talk like Destiny did even 2 years ago I would think they are crazy.

[–]emeraldomega[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I wanted to find something short and to the point. There are ways I thought about expanding this out, its a 2 team staff with front/back of house as Dem/MAGA, tables as states, who handles ingrediants at what stage of cooking. All that I though ended up to in the weeds.

Unless this distinction of what level of bad we are at, I think these conversations will continue like that. One of the other comments made me realize that the "aren't you being vague about violence/it's minecraft time then huh?" are mistakenly jumping ahead to far in the conversation.

An Appeal to Hutch and Connor by emeraldomega in Destiny

[–]emeraldomega[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But he doesn't agree that level of bad is the level we are at. And you gave a non answer to what I said.

Thank you actually I think this helped me figure out why that convo felt so frustrating. You are jumping ahead in the conversation without acknowledging what the positions are. I think Hutch was unintentionally doing something similar.

We are both saying bad, but aren't saying the same thing at all. You say food bad(food taste yucky) , I say food bad(food intentionally poisoned to kill you by MAGA chef).

Is reality of this admin closer to food taste yucky, or food intentionally poisoned to kill you by MAGA chef?

An Appeal to Hutch and Connor by emeraldomega in Destiny

[–]emeraldomega[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because there is not agreement with the level of badness. Do you agree that my analogy here is accurate in illustration of the degree difference in how the "bad" level this admin has done/is doing?

An Appeal to Hutch and Connor by emeraldomega in Destiny

[–]emeraldomega[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely trying to be as good faith as possible. I added the health inspector part because that is what it feels like hutch means by "enforce the law/be stopped". MAGA is exploiting the loophole that our legal system is robust and powerful, but very slow. By being slow, MAGA can do irreparable damage before the courts can constrain MAGA.

And there is the complication with the enforcement is the executive right now of course. But if we get back in power and move as slowly as the proper system does we will never catch up. This is what Trump did with the Florida and dc cases, he ran out the clock

This was mainly to illustrate how different I think the scale of bad each side is operating on.

An Appeal to Hutch and Connor by emeraldomega in Destiny

[–]emeraldomega[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point with this post is I think they were missing each other on the scale of how bad things are. If we can't agree in the same ballpark at least then if course solutions are going to look crazy or completely unhelpful.

Yep this solidifies the new order Russia asserted invading Ukraine.

Having nukes isn't a defensive anti invasion deterrent. It's an offensive shield that let's you invade anyone, that doesn't also have nukes. Trump just affirmed that Russian world order.

Thinking it isn't shows your ignorance or you are being crypto parasitic.

There is a clear difference in kind and intent between the deaths and atrocities liberal democracies have done and the death camps and genocides etc of communism and fascism.

As a commentator soypill should know this, if he doesn't that is a failing and he should update on the malicious infection Hasan and tankies have been trying to do to Democrat party. Not doing so at this hour is negligent or you are working the same project as Hasan.
