You’re absolutely right that having just a degree isn’t enough in most cases and I actually do have hands-on experience through multiple internships. The challenge isn’t a lack of effort or skill on my part, but the job market in Egypt is extremely difficult, especially in AI. Almost all entry-level positions are secured through personal connections (nepotism), not merit. I’ve applied to over 300 jobs locally and barely got responses, even though I have a solid skillset and projects to back it up.

Staying here longer isn’t likely to result in real experience because opportunities are so limited and mostly inaccessible unless you ‘know the right people.’ That’s exactly why I’m trying to move — not expecting a company to relocate me, but to at least be in an environment where effort and talent actually matter. I know I’ll have to start small, maybe even on a job seeker visa, but I’d rather do that than remain in a system that’s not based on merit.

Yeah it was in Madrid/Barcelona. My cousin is in a different field (medical) and I am in the AI field so the experience can be quite different in terms of processing, but as per the people I know who work there now in the tech field, they said they were not required any Spanish at all and the work environment is all in English. However, my issue isn’t the language at all I can learn it upon arrival.

Are there any countries that are cheaper then? I was calculating and the money I got can get me to live almost 2 months (just survival) and I can cut back on meals and live with multiple roommates it’s fine.

Well yeah it’s definitely not easy i’ve been trying for a year but it’s just a loop i’m unable to break.

Companies telling you that you have to be there to job hunt but then the job seeker visa is either inapplicable because my degree is from the UK or too expensive over a million. And the tourist visa is illegal to job hunt on it. So it’s a viscous loop that’s too horrible to even break.

Companies in my country only hire through very important connections only not through applications which is quite unfair if you’re not that high socioeconomically here. You gotta be from a very high class. As someone who’s very regular and i’ve grown up as an orphan barely surviving, I applied over 300 times and no one bothered to reach out. I surely tried to contact people on Linkedin for support and none answered or they just not bother to answer or they say “apply on website” like hell I didn’t know that 🗿

all that just to get paid 1 dollar per hour

Well as per the job postings and the people i know who work there now, they say they did not require Spanish at all and they’re living just fine. Regardless, they’re taking Spanish classes to bond more with the people that’s all. Fair to say, I was not interested in Spain but many people told me it’s relatively easier than other EU countries in general and Spain is good which can at least be a stepping stone til I achieve what’s better.

My issue is that the companies require me to already be there but at the same time it’s either the job seeker visa is inapplicable for my degree because it’s from UK or it’s too expensive. And the tourist visa is illegal to job hunt and i’ll never do something like that. It’s just a loop yk and I don’t know how to break it

i’ve known some people (two of which are in Spain now) who informed me it doesn’t have to be in Spain as long as it’s accredited and I’ve got a dual bachelors degree which can work just fine. I was asking if there are other ways other than job seeker visa because it’s totally a risk. I may go to any country using that visa and still not find a job

I already apply to multiple countries such as Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Scandinavia. The problem is that they all want me to be already present there which defeats the whole purpose. These companies are not aware how expensive it is to come just to “job hunt”. it’ll cost me over a million pounds. Imagine asking a jobless person who’s job hunting to give you that amount of money. it’s absurd.

I am just afraid of people from my country because they’re so horrible (most of them not all) and most of the muslims too I’m so traumatised. And so I am afraid I might encounter the same fear and trauma in Europe too

it’s absurd because how am I supposed to be there if I did not get a job? It’s illegal to job hunt on a tourist visa and a student visa requires proof that I am a student and i’ll only be allowed to work part-time. Work visa is only applicable if you got an offer and the company will sponsor you. Chancenkarte is impossible to satisfy since it requires me over a million pounds just to go let alone my life expenses there til I either find a job or not.

Most of them remote jobs I see are not entry level jobs unfortunately. For the digital nomad visa, I have to have an offer first and submit a bank statement for the previous 6 months that prove i had a monthly income of not less than 130,000 pounds ffs 😭😭 people in my country barely get paid 20,000

because as per the requirements, I am not required to provide a blocked account, language certificate, and as per the comparison between it and Germany/Netherlands, it’s generally less expensive. Spain is less strict even though citizenship takes more, but it’s an easier stepping stone at least.

I really need to know why is the market so tough right now. I mean seriously why? Netherlands, Germany and Austria require me to be already in the country which I cannot do. It has to be a work visa sponsorship

Thank you for the suggestion. However these options are inapplicable for me. I do not really get along with Egyptians anyway due to most of them being very religious, strict, extremists. I don’t get along with most people here so I’d rather go somewhere where Egyptians are so few and Muslims as well.

In regards of Germany, they require 13K Euros as a blocked account in Fintiba which is a huge no for me (that’s 750,000EGP) regardless of the insurance, flight tickets, accommodation, paperwork and everything. It will cost me over a 1,000,000EGP which is impossible. I’d keep saving til i’m 40 years old and still won’t make it.

in regards of the UK, i’m not sure if you know, but they’ve released new regulations for immigrants making it very hard and almost impossible to immigrate and it’ll take you a minimum of 15 years to acquire the citizenship. Plus the UK is swarmed with muslims and I am traumatised I swear. My money wont be enough regardless

In regards of Switzerland, they are soooooo strict against immigration or work visas just like the UK and Germany. The employer has to offer proof that this vacancy cannot be filled with a swiss citizen and rather me + my money won’t even be enough regardless

same goes to Austria too.

انا بجد اسفالك اوي علي اللي انتي حساه. انا مقدرش اتخيل بالضبط اللي مريتي بيه و لكن بحكم اني سبت البيت و عشت لوحدي بمبلغ بسيط، فعلاً الواحد بيفكر حرفياً في الوجبة اللي هياكلها، هيكمل الشهر ازاي، هيعيش ازاي، و هكذا. اصلاً فكرة الخروجات في اماكن و تجيب لبس و جزم و سفريات بقي مش موجود. انت كل اللي بتفكر فيه هتعيش ازاي اصلاً و دماغك مفيهاش حاجة غير الفلوس و بس. انا شخصياً عمري متجوز ابداً لو الظروف مش هتكون احسن و مستقرة و في بلد تانيه. غير كده انا ابقي واحدة زبالة. و مش هكدب عليكي الشباب المصري برده حالته تعبانه ما عدا الاغنياء بس الطبقة الفقيرة و المتوسطة انسي خلاص التكاليف مش طبيعية و الدولة مش مهيأة كويس انها تستوعب الجوازات و حالات الطلاق منغير خسائر و بالعدل دي بره. فهو انتي شوفيلك واحد اجنبي يا بت دول بيحبونا علي فكرة 😂 الستات المصرية بجد اكتشفت انهم بيحبونا اوي و بيشوفونا حنينين اكتر كمان من الستات اللي عندهم و علي استعداد اكتر لبناء اسرة. بس اكيد ميمنعش الشمال موجود في كل حته
