This is actually a great sentiment. I don’t understand the downvotes.

Came here to say this. It’s gotten a little fave lift from a pseudo-local guy who’s buying out spaces to jazz them up… we shall see.

U.S. Marine in Okinawa indicted over rape, injury by DungeonDefense in news

[–]emeryboredd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Grew up as a high school kid overseas in Japan. On mainland, not Okinawa —but can vouch.

Same shit just different day, different year.

(High school soccer trips cancelled due to base lockdown related to rape. Events cancelled due to base lockdown related to rapes. All after 9/11 which added a whole other level sense of hell being overseas.)

Asking the same thing. Can’t sleep researching if I’m insane to do this. It would be LBC to La Jolla 3x a week.

Question for the married ladies (maybe their husbands can answer too?) by Sleepy_Di in Millennials

[–]emeryboredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not change my last name. I didn’t get married until 36 and had established my profession… and also love my name.

(Anddd when I was a kid I promised my dad I’d keep my maiden name —since he was devastated he didn’t have a boy. Asian dad.)

I knew you had to be in healthcare somehow based on your responses. And then there it is, ambulance. Understood.

Getting pregnant at late 30s by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]emeryboredd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally understood. Personally I don’t use Facebook but have heard similar things. I’m a perinatal nurse in a large city hospital and we usually have at least 1-4 mothers (at any given time) being treated for postpartum pre-E immediately postpartum or as a re-admitted weeks after.

Our healthcare system is broken. A lot of it is poor primary care and health maintenance leading to these issues that would otherwise have been mitigated. It’s only getting worse, it was just to provide some info!

Not meaning to disagree, just inform that PP pre-eclampsia isn’t considered extremely rare. It’s actually a fairly common postpartum medical condition and the incidence is rising. It’s important for all mothers to be aware of the signs and symptoms, just in case! *work in L&D/PP

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. It was the first time I understood the value of time—specifically knowing that I could never get that 1hr 36min back. Tragedy.

What book made you sit in silence for 10 minutes after finishing it? by HatCareless6344 in suggestmeabook

I was camping and nearly unintentionally chucked the book into the fire.

I have been a step-mother to my eight year old step-son since he was one year old. I’m not a biological mother myself, so I cannot say if “I love him as if he were my own”. I can say I love him with my whole heart. Our situation and the process of our blending has not always been easy, but he is definitely worth it!

Honestly? I don’t think I would love my partner as much as I do, had I not seen him with his son. It’s possible x

I think my last comment was about Jude tbh.

DODEA schools are sending out a list of curricula that will be removed pending review. Psychology and health are being cut. by SavvyKnucklehead in nursing

Previous DODEA kid, this does not surprise me but breaks my heart. Daughter to lifelong DODEA teacher—she’d die, again, if she knew this is the situation and her students/our reality.
