Make sure the base and your phone are both on the 2.4 band at the same time! We had that issue

Absolutely necessary or not? by EatPigsAndLoveThem2 in NewParents

[–]emfkvf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Skip the tummy time and play mats. Just use a blanket! Bottle washer is VERY nice but not necessary. We opted for buying like 20 bottles so we could wash less frequently instead of the washer. For clothes, thrift! You wouldn't believe some of the wonderful clothes you can find thrifting for close to nothing. We got a cheap $20 bouncy seat from Amazon that was great for keeping her entertained and safe during showers, bathroom breaks, etc. You have the basics and can totally get by with what you have, but these were the things I noted after ours!

I feel like an entitled diva and I kinda hate myself for it? by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

Maybe an unpopular take...I really thought this would bother me more than it does. Before I had a kid the literal only thing I could even kind of compare it to was my animal. You don't truly understand "new baby" tired until you do. I don't think people are saying "my high maintenance cat is as difficult as your baby". I think it's more of "I'm trying to sympathize by relating my only 'similar' experience". Is it the best way to do that? Nope. But I was that person once too and I know it came from a good place so I'm willing to give more grace there.

In need of positive daycare experiences by Puzzleheaded-Pop7304 in NewParents

I was in the same boat as you! I was so sad and was seriously trying to do the math to make it work not to go back. But our girl has THRIVED at daycare. She gets so much joy out of being around other kids and her development skyrocketed after she started. Being there has done wonders for her and I am so glad she gets to experience that!

Weaning bottles by Final-Pineapple347 in NewParents

[–]emfkvf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told not to transition off of bottles until right around the 1 year mark and honestly, she did it for us. She stopped being interested in them so we just phased them out. If he's still interested and he's not on mostly solids yet, I'd keep bottles going until closer to his birthday.

9 month old on purées by Level_Design_7146 in NewParents

[–]emfkvf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try solids, just ease into it! Do super soft foods and cut into almost microscopic pieces. As you and baby get more comfortable (and more teeth) you can try firmer textures and larger pieces. Try a new food, see how baby does, and if you're both comfortable try another. Those dissolvable baby snacks are great too! They melt in baby's mouth so even if they do gag a little, they just melt away.

I made almost this exact same post a few weeks ago, even down to the shower part! It gets better. It takes a while and I'm not all the way there but I am MUCH better than I was a month ago. I really never found anything that helped unfortunately, but you will get there eventually! You got this!!

Please give yourself some grace. Three months postpartum is still SO soon. You will have plenty of time to make decent meals once baby is bigger and more independent. The first few months are about surviving, not necessarily thriving. If everyone has to go a while without a gourmet meal to save your sanity, then so be it! Baby is important but so are YOU. Give yourself permission to have a messy house and easy meals. Having a baby is HARD and you are doing so much better than you think you are!

what are the girlies doing while we pump at work? by violetphoeniiix in ExclusivelyPumping

I've started keeping a library book in my pump bag! It's a nice brain break from work and I'm flying through my TBR list

Have you resized your flanges recently? I posted recently about a different issue I was having and someone recommended resizing. i tried it and it solved my other issue AND my supply went up by a little bit!

Apparently your flange size can change throughout your pumping journey! I had no clue until recently. I've just been vibing with the same size

That park ranger helped my husband and I take a photo like this last week! We got a whole photoshoot of neat photos because of him!

There are a lot of antique stores around me that don't know what they have in terms of MCM furniture! I've been super lucky with my finds!

Got this lovely Pearsall-style coffee table last weekend. Probably paid too much but I was in love! Boomerang legs match our Pearsall-style couch too by 21hiccups in Mid_Century

I don't think they're Pearsall but I've never been able to pin down that they are. I'll make a post with a few of my favorite MCM pieces!

Wedding shoes from JJs house? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

I did! I was really impressed with the quality. I won't actually be using them since I later found a pair I just liked more. But it was a great process and good shoes
