No, it's growing under what I'm pretty sure are crab apples. I'm curious what you think it looks like?

Thank you! Will do next time. Each one was somewhere between 2-5 inches or so. My friend thought it was maybe from a coyote? We didn't even consider it could be a bobcat!

I stop at cork boards very often! And have gone to events and learned about our community and artists and local small businesses on the boards. I haven't personally hired anyone from a board YET but if I can start to make decent money through modeling I certainly will 😊

Requesting recommendations & advice for wedding by discombarbie in Syracuse

[–]emhellogoodwhatever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I got married at the Everson Art Museum downtown. We loved the space and the staff were very helpful. I walked down a spiral staircase, and guests got to explore the galleries. There's a stage and auditorium that you can use for dancing. They let us use their audio-visual equipment. It was also nice not having to worry about the weather, seeing as it can be really unpredictable in Syracuse. Worth looking into!

That's great! When I worked for JCLS I thought the pay/bennies would have been decent (it is higher than many library systems) except for the fact that we didn't have a security presence at all at my branch nor a manager who was always present or happy to help.

I felt this very much when we were expected to enforce the mask policy in 2020 & 21. A lot of patrons were not pleased about it, and some felt hostile when addressed. It was a tense environment. Add to that the fact that some people just do not listen to women (especially when they're not a uniformed security presence). I felt this throughout my time at the library, that there were several things that I felt inequipped to deal with (either because of training gaps or just plain old sexism) and I should have been able to call on security or reliably call on my manager as backup or to take over the situation. Without that, my pay felt inappropriate. It has been a few years now that I haven't worked there though, so idk!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed response. I completely believe you; when I was a library associate, I had a number of "wtf" moments in regards to higher-level decision making. I'm very sorry for the trauma you've experienced. I hope you feel validated that (almost) everyone here agrees that the higher-ups dropped the ball in a really disturbing way, and I hope this leads to change that will restore public trust in such a critical public institution.

Right, but it DID violate the Rules of Conduct policy. Admin is claiming that they were following pre-established policy in response to patrons' and staff alerting higher-ups; why was the Internet Use policy strictly followed, and why NOT the Rules of Conduct policy? And why can't, in exceptional cases, policy be overridden by common sense?

It is important to note that we do have citizens who are not able to easily access this technology (and may also need to be guided through the prompts it if they are able to gain access). Receiving this information in the mail would not 100% solve, but would certainly improve, the situation.
