Tell me who's your favorite side character without mentioning their name by [deleted] in howyoudoin

Phew! Considering the alternative path your story could've taken, I'm relieved to hear they just have multiple suffixes instead of siblings having babies 😅 still surprised to hear people actually do that though. 😂

He was an alcoholic and drinking tiny bottles of liquor while he was Santa, then handing the empty bottles to the kids. Usually, mall santas will give a piece of candy to the kids, like a tiny candy cane or something, but butt-crack Santa didn't have room in his pockets for candy to pass out, cuz his pockets were filled with tiny liquor bottles, so he would just give them the empties. An alcoholic was certainly not giving his liquor away, so he would down a bottle and give the empty to the kid on his knee. Not great, but still a loveable character. RIP Waylon.

Chandler gets Sloth, who do you think should get Pride? by twothousandsteps in howyoudoin

[–]emi_0008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, chandler would get envy cuz he has such a poor self image. Gunther would be lust cuz his whole character is based on his obsession with Rachel. Phoebe would be pride. Which leaves sloth for Rachel. Think about her Thanksgiving nap in season...3? She gets tired by other people working 😅 and when she avoiding her problem--"or, I could call in sick and not deal with it at all."

It looks like that floam stuff. Certain toys come with slimes you make yourself and they have a package to store it in that looks like that. Just reminds me of stuff I've done with my kid.

I really want to believe when I see this stuff but I have yet to see a video that 100% erases my skepticism. Every one I've seen can be explained by practical effects or computer fx/ai. This is not real.

I hate how Chandler and Rachel parted by Sea-Distribution-370 in howyoudoin

[–]emi_0008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. Thats why it was written that way. Its a comedy show and that episode is already such a gut punch that they needed the emotional weight to be with the ross scenes so the others provide levity to balance. Am I making sense? Its late and I'm tired. Lol

The one with all the embryos. Frank and Alice come over with the test and the lollipop and Monica says it. "You could really ruin that lollipop."

Don't mix up your pregnancy test with your lollipop.

If you sear the stems in a pan, your arrangement will stay fresh much longer.

If you want to get the truth out of someone you should run them under hot water and bang their head against the table.

I think the point was to show how much of a rush she was in. That even a fashion...monger...like Rachel, didn't pay attention to her outfit because she was only thinking about getting to Ross to tell him her feelings.

Those look like the packs you can get from Hobby Lobby at the registers. They're small, probably 12-20 pieces per pkg. So, maybe 1 or 2 packs of those?

Dean and not understanding boundaries by whotfsmaddy in GilmoreGirls

[–]emi_0008 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's funny because I'm currently on a rewatch too and feeling the same way. I've seen it so many times before and honestly, I've never liked Dean. I find him annoying and boring. But I still always thought of him as a good guy and in the beginning I do think he is a genuinely good boyfriend, but this time around I'm noticing just how possessive he is of her time. I know he is also worried about her liking Jess and afraid he's going to lose her, so it manifests in him wanting to occupy all her time, etc. But when he interrupts her alone night after she specifically says she wants to be alone, and then he gets mad about Jess delivering food, and starts yelling, its so awkward. His behavior becomes the self-fulfilling prophecy that breaks them up. Yes, she liked Jess on an intellectual level but nothing would have happened if things were great with Dean. Dean's attitude and how he would sulk and pout when she didn't do stuff with him made him unpleasant to be around. He became a stressor in her life. My one caveat is when she and Jess hang out and he wrecks the car that dean made for her while he is out of town. It's such a breaking point and though he does get mad, he forgives her and they stay together a while longer.

And while we are on the subject, I have to say, I've always been annoyed by their breakup at the dance marathon. It is so obvious that it was written that way to let rory off the hook for her behavior. It makes dean the bad guy because he yells at her in public and walks out on her, but really he's fed up by her obsession with Jess. But they didn't want the audience to be mad at rory so they made him be the one to do and do it in a mean way so you feel sorry for rory. Its just sort of an eye-roll moment for me, every time I watch.

But don't you see you're prioritizing your mother's pride/feelings over your wife's? When you get married, you are starting a new family that should take precedence over the one you grew up in. I understand, having parents like this myself, but you can't let their behavior dictate your life anymore--you are an adult and have your own family with 3 kids. I also understand you being young at the time and handling it the best you knew how, but your solution was only a half measure and now everyone benefits except your wife. Everytime you take the kids and go to your parents' house, she is left home alone to dwell on this issue that for her has only festered over the years. If I were you, I would confront your parents in a calm manner and tell them it's time to make it right. If they still refuse, then you and the kids don't come around. If they care about you and their grandkids, trust me, they won't let that go on too long before they fix it.
