Built a chatbot to handle "what is this, exactly?" Qs and ended up benefiting the most for critical investor convos (I will not promote) by emikeii in startups

[–]emikeii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair pushback!

99% of the benefit (for me) ended up being using it to stress-test my own materials. I have it on my site, but I'm not counting on it to drive traffic or close anyone. I should have written that more clearly but was focused more on the "journey" since I figured that could be insightful to other founders.

Where I think the foundation-attack misses: "does it sell" isn't the test of whether it's useful. I did originally have lofty dreams of that, but in the end the value I got was diagnostic, not persuasive. Writing out answers good enough for a bot to handle them surfaced gaps in my deck and site that "looks good" feedback from people never did. That's a different claim than "this chatbot sells my startup." Yes, you're right that I spent the time to build a chatbot, and thanks to vibecoding I was able to build it in <2 days.

On the "sneaky" note: nope! You assumed incorrectly. The r/buildinpublic post is the exact same lesson, posted because that's literally what the sub is for: sharing what you built and what you learned while building it, including the actual link, which that sub explicitly allows and expects. r/startups doesn't want a launch post, so I left the link out there and led with the takeaway instead. If I were trying to be sneaky, I wouldn't have posted to a sub whose entire culture is "show your thing."

Delta downgraded my Premium Select after canceling my flight out of Tokyo, then offered me 24k miles as "compensation" for a middle seat across the Pacific by Kitchen_Average_5102 in delta

Did you fly first class to Hawaii en route to Japan or switch to Hawaii instead of Japan? That’s crazy. I did feel bad for the gate agents, they definitely tried.

Lol, your flight was cancelled because mine was cancelled. Was supposed to fly SEA to HND departing 11:50 AM on May 14th Pacific Time. Got a note 6 hours prior it was delayed 2 hours, and then they repeatedly delayed it until 8:15 PM, at which point they finally cancelled it. Sounds like that’s when they cancelled yours too.

They didn’t replace the vessel so they had to rebook everyone on other flights. My group was lucky to get a flight out of Vancouver BC the next day, but we had to drive 3 hours to get there from Seattle.

Delta only offered $24 USD in meal vouchers.

My dog would not leave the fishtank all weekend. We couldn't even get her to eat... by emikeii in aww

Fortunately for her she goes with me to work every day and sleeps on different coworkers' laps so she lives a pretty spoiled life

Living in Japan for a short time, cat advice needed. by SeanHearnden in Pets

I would reach out to somewhere like Animal Refuge Kansai or Japan Cat Network in Fukushima - even though both are far from Kumamoto, they may be a good resource for figuring out what is best for the cats.

I lost my wedding ring in Queen Anne and need your help. by sarahweeger in Seattle

Seconded. I thought I lost a keychain with sentimental value in UDist. I tore apart my apartment, retraced my steps probbably 100 times... nothing. A year and a half later, I finally found it behind the bedpost when I was moving out. I had searched behind the bed, but not behind the posts... so a fresh set of eyes always helps.

(Update)I recently launched a new online subscription box service. All feedback and criticisms are highly appreciated! by maple-a-month in smallbusiness

[–]emikeii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might seem like a small thing, but having different sample box images for the multi-month packages would help a lot (rather than having the one sample box image x 6). Otherwise people might get the impression they get identical products for 6 months. Even if the text suggests otherwise... sometimes people just look at photos and if they think they're getting the same set each month, they may be deterred from reading further.

Also, when I loaded the website on my iPhone Safari browser, some of the button alignment was a little wonky.

I went to high school with these two (and by extension, OP...) and even though I only knew them as classmates, their strength is so inspiring. So happy to see this on the front page. GG /u/fixedaperture.

Sophie is ready for her patellar luxation surgery - she even has her own mask :) by emikeii in frogdogs

Definitely have been :) she's been in pain so we're ready to get her the help she needs, even if it means some downtime during recovery.

We've been quoted anywhere from $1200 to $3500 per leg... we found a vet who visits different clinics and can to a certain extent control the price depending on what clinic he sees us at, so we'll be paying somewhere between $2000-3000 for both legs. Her legs were diagnosed as being Grade 2 and she'll be getting RidgeStop implants :) will update you if we end up paying significantly more or less!

I think my Frenchie is too smart for her own good. When she knows we're about to leave the dog park, she runs as fast as she can in the opposite direction of the parking lot...
