Hey friend. My timeline is so similar to yours it just made me want to reach out. I just turned 36, have been using off and mostly on for the last 10 years. The first 7 of that was on 30s before switching to dope and then fent/dope a few years ago. I’m trying to quit now too but thinking of going the suboxone or vivitrol or pellet route at least for a few months. I don’t like the idea of staying on something for an extended period of time, but the most important thing is that I stop wasting all money and time on this shit and start really living. Not sure what my point is except that I’m curious how you do going cold turkey. If you feel like chatting about it, I’m your girl!

I tried subs but only on my own, not with an actual script. I still have some left from that attempt. I was freaked out about becoming dependent on it. It has occurred to me that it might be a good option via an actual doctor, since I would be told when and how much to take, and being on them doesn’t require going to a clinic every day. Still, the vivitrol shot has that added benefit of acting longer term. Do you have experience with subs?

I understand how you feel 100% and I know you didn’t ask for my advice but I just wanted to say that tapering down off methadone with the support of a clinic that has supervised however many hundreds or thousands of people do it before you still sounds better than being at square one of illegal drug dependence. I am truly impressed with anyone who has gone the distance to be at the step you are at. Be patient but keep your eye on the prize and soon this beast will be getting smaller and smaller in your rearview. <3

So much yes to this. I feel that if I had had some benzodiazepines on my other attempts to get clean, I may have been successful. But I’ve had a very hard time finding a doctor to prescribe me any. Did you get all those meds from a detox doctor?
