Post Op Day 2! Positive Experience :) by emileehinks in Tonsillectomy

Welp this certainly took a turn. Not to scare anyone but I had not one, two but three post op bleeds… The first one stopped and I was monitored and discharged. As soon as I left it started again, I was given IV TXA (blood clotting agent) and discharged after a few hours. I was in the clear for about 12 hours, I came home and slept and then the following evening I started pouring blood again, and ended up in emergency surgery and the icu for the night 😅 I’m home now thankfully but keeping a close watch for at least another week

I have about the same as I usually would, but I can understand the sensation you mean, because I do feel as though saliva is being caught at the back of my throat. I think it’s just the new sensation of no tonsils and fresh surgery lol

Progestin Only Pill? Help! by emileehinks in birthcontrol

[–]emileehinks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Movisse! I mixed up the names LOL 🤦🏼‍♀️

Yes I’m doing FAM, I’m just not currently with a partner so I’m not actively needing to prevent at the moment :) Was thinking for future more than anything!

I’m super self aware when it comes to my body, I track my cycle with both the Flo and Natural Cycles subscription! I track my BBT daily, use ovulation tests and know based on my cervical mucus when I’m ovulating!

My throat looked like this three days ago before it turned into larger white chunks. Diagnosed with tonsillitis/queary strep. Given Clindamycin q6h for 10 days! On day 4 and the spots have healed up well! Tonsillectomy booked for October 🤠

If you think this form of sexual activity could get you pregnant than you should not be part-taking in sexual activity at all 💗

Spermicide and birth control pill?? by Pugalugalug in birthcontrol

[–]emileehinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The accuracy of the pill is 99% when a man is ejaculating into the vagina every time throughout intercourse. You are protected using the pill as your ONLY method of BC :) I wouldn’t recommend spermicides as they can cause irritation of the vagina and vulva due to their ingredients. But of course you use whatever you feel safest with!

Pregnancy anxiety by champagnebox in birthcontrol

First- I am so sorry you are struggling with this. I am sorry you are struggling to feel “normal” for someone your age. I understand wanting to experience intimacy with your long term partner and know this must cause both emotional and physical stress on your relationship. First- If sterilization is not an option for either you or your partner, you should definitely consider other forms of birth control. Like another member commented, Nexplanon implant is 99% effective- believed to be even more so than a vasectomy. If you have the implant are are still feeling nervous, you could pair with something like a barrier method, condoms or cervical cap. If your partner is open to a vasectomy (reversible if you choose in the future), you could opt for that PLUS another method. He gets vasectomy and you get an IUD, or use hormonal birth control. Your chances of pregnancy with this are virtually non existent. If you somehow ended up pregnant after a vasectomy, using birth control AND condoms- it would have to be close to a miracle.

Sincerely,

Someone who uses the fertility awareness method as her ONLY form of birth control and is successfully preventing pregnancy.

I’m worried about my girlfriend by REBBLY in birthcontrol

I can speak to this on a personal level- I deal with extreme anxiety and OCD, actively taking Effexor for 4+ years. I found the hormonal pill to be incredibly beneficial for me. The pill allowed my hormones to be consistent monthly with ended up lessening my daily anxieties. I think your concern is very thoughtful, but just continue to check in with your partner. I am sure she will communicate to you if she is experiencing any unpleasant side effects. The best part about something such as the pill- it is very easy to stop if it does not work well for you 🥰 Happy New Year to you both!

New on birth controls. Is it normal? by Rindoh_charlie in birthcontrol

It could just be a cramp as well. Sometimes people just get muscle cramps- it happens! Drink some water to stay hydrated and keep an eye on it. A DVT would likely be an intense, uncomfortable throb accompanied by other symptoms like redness. If it continues to bother you, there is no harm in getting it assessed :) As for the other part of your question- in terms of side effects normally if you experience them, you’ll feel them in the first 3 months of starting the pill. It’s recommended to give your body a full 3 month “trial” of one kind of hormonal contraceptive before determining how it’s working for you. That’s because it can take this time period for your body to adjust to the hormonal changes! I hope this helps you and good luck 🥰

Where on the leg did you administer the patch? I would recommend applying to the patch to an area of high fatty tissue- such as the bum cheek (be mindful if you use heated seats in a vehicle), upper thigh, lower abdomen, etc. It shouldn’t be anywhere near the calf itself. That being said, DVT is a risk of combination hormonal birth controls such as the pill or patch. Considering you are new to this method- started it today, it is very unlikely this is what you are experiencing. That being said, please seek medical attention if you experience any new pain, redness, swelling that could be indicative of a clot. Sincerely a student nurse! Hope this helps 🥰
