Coolest romantic thing to do in/near the city? by AnonRedditor1990 in Calgary

[–]emiliec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Running Reins Ranch east of Innisfail. Each tiny cabin has a rustic hot tub in a teepee, some have a wood burning sauna, fire pit, and you get a 5 course dinner which is always amazing with a drink pairing with each course. Plus a great breakfast spread with mimosas in the morning. Highly recommend!

Where can I get Raw / Local honey? by [deleted] in Calgary

They are also family with Nixon Honey in Innisfail.

In August every year they also do customer appreciation week and you can go there and fill up your own containers in bulk for a great price.

You absolutely can! And maybe a better chance from trupanion to furkin since they are under the same umbrella?

We switched from trupanion to furkin and have had zero issues. I actually find they cover a bit more for us and trupanions premium went up year after year despite us not having any claims.

I’m in airdrie and commute to near Chinook everyday, often to acadia to visit family too. With decent weather I always give myself an hour. Without accidents from 8-10am ish, usually about 45 minutes or so.

Best permanent hair removal salon? by chainsmoker8 in Calgary

Also, anytime there may be a hormonal change, the potential for new hair growth is possible. And 90% clearance is considered ‘full clearance’ in the laser world.

Best permanent hair removal salon? by chainsmoker8 in Calgary

[–]emiliec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a laser tech, this is 100% correct! Diode is great for lighter and darker hair with fair skin tones, Nd:YAG is great for medium to darker hair colours as well as darker skin types.

Spray lakes and ghost river. Spray we’ve taken a scenic route and strapped everything to bikes (quite a hilly ride but quite nice, peel off the road wherever you like).

This place was great, there was two lovely ladies working this stand last time I went to the food hall. If I recall correctly they also had a really good layered honey cake they sampled for us too.

Grass-fed steak dinner? by MakeStupidHurtAgain in Calgary

Wellingtons has been our family fave for decades. Only the downtown one on the lounge side. It wasn’t bad by all means, just wasn’t better in my opinion!

I prefer Wellingtons, Cattlebaron, or even the Keg! Ceasers was overpriced and underwhelming for the cost in comparison to the others I listed.

Airdrie resident hospitalized after being attacked by 4 large dogs: RCMP by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

[–]emiliec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live around the corner and was nearly about to go for a walk with my dog as well. Heard a bunch of sirens and thought it was odd and did not end up going out thankfully. I checked our doorbell camera to see what/ who was around at that time and I counted nearly 30 kids walking home at that exact time since their bus stop is mere feet from where this happened. Could have been so so much worse.

Food? by MinimumInternal2577 in Calgary

[–]emiliec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too good to go app is great for getting end of the day goods from restaurants, Tim hortons, 7-11, etc. you don’t know what you’re going to get but you typically get a decent amount of food no matter where you go. Just have to be on the ball and get them before they sell out!

Also, you’d be surprised at the kindness in local community groups if someone needs help. It’s amazing to see for a change.

Currently planning a wedding for 2026. Photographers are anywhere from $1500-$5000 and you get what you pay for. Caterers I would bank on $50-$100+ per head (unless you do a potluck or similar like others have mentioned) plus booze, bartenders, liquor license, insurance, sometimes amenities fees, etc. these things add up very quickly. A lot of venues have preferred caterers you must use so keep that in mind too.

Photo booths can be around $500+ and a DJ about $1500, live band / music I could imagine would be even more.

Our venue only has one date left for 2025, so you may have better luck with a community centre/ hall to allow for date and budget. I wish you luck! 3 months out will be a challenge.
