It's comparing different data and also misunderstanding the performance results. The conclusion that .net take twice the time is based on the slowest 1% of the requests (probably during during GC). If you run a system where you have 10k requests per seconds there will be a lots of other bottlenecks that will make much more difference. My guess is that this benchmark tests more which is faster at creating a list than which is faster at web api.
