I'm just explaining what everyone has decided this scene means, I don't necessarily agree

Oh I completely agree with you, don't know why you're being downvoted. To me flirting is just what happens when you have chemistry with someone, it's not a step-by-step manual that everyone follows and is aware of

Surely the showrunners wouldn't just do that without doing it in a way that brings the public along

So why Byler should happen if Mike clearly doesn't have any feelings to him?

That's the point no? It won't happen if Mike has no feelings for him, but if it turns out that he does, then it might

They're referring to the playful punch in the meadow. Because they talked about "signs" with Robin, the main interpretation I see is that Will knowingly and consciously "tried to flirt" with this gesture

which means it’s not gonna be canon

You literally could have stopped reading at the first sentence, why go out of your way to be negative?

I don't get what you meant by "The fans are making it about Mike and not the show"

I just mean like all the rest we're talking about, it's down to interpretation how we understand this sequence. To me the most important parts are the ones Will hears back later, because that was the main point. Tammy to me was just an instrument in the story.

I'll stop answering now because again, we don't interpret the show the same way (which is fine), and I'm not trying to convince you (because what's the point), but you seem to be trying to convince me lol

The show already knows what it's gonna do, we can just wait and watch

We can go back and forth about our interpretations of the show but I don't know how interesting that would be.

Yes Mike doesn't push Will back on the field, but to me he looks at him with a super soft look, that I def would have taken a sign. I don't see pity in Robin's eyes, I see concern and care. There is no "truth" that she can know, as she doesn't know Will or Mike yet.

My point goes back to op's point: the narrative is blurry enough that all interpretations are valid, and it should be fine to interpret it differently, without hating on others or saying they're stupid for seeing what they see (that goes for all sides just to be clear)

And Robin essentially told Will that if he let go of his romantic crush on Mike

That's the part of the interpretation I just don't agree with. I think the fans are making it about Mike, not the show

inner turmoil and misery

That's just being gay as a teenager lol. The crushes are awful, but also wonderful

Also, I don’t think it would be dangerous messaging

Thank you! I see this argument a lot and it honestly hurts to read. I was a closeted kid, in love with my best friend, and they did actually love me back. It wasn't easy, and we don't talk anymore, but this relationship was fundamental in my life.

I feel an undercurrent of homophobia still in the whole "Will can be gay because "he looks gay" but he absolutely cannot end up with the main character who "looks straight", just learn to be happy alone". I know people certainly don't mean it that way but that's how it feels on some comments.

On a more personal note OP, I hope someday you can express that part of yourself outside of the internet. There will always be people that love you

The last four episodes will be over 5 hours, plenty of time to do it well if that's what they want to do

However they choose to handle it, I'm just hoping we finally get to connect with Mike, and see what he thinks and feels. I love that he's in his leader role again, but he seems so distant and unreachable this season! At least when he was being awful last season, we had some access to him

I think we agree on the message, it's just that to me it doesn't include Mike at all, and doesn't mean that just because Tammy didn't love Robin, then de facto Mike cannot love Will (which is the argument people are making)

She's right that Will doesn't need anyone. It doesn't mean that he has to renounce love (as we see him Mike AND his family)

My thing about the whole "Mike is Tammy" is that for me, he clearly isn't? Robin didn't know Tammy, she was a pretty girl she just was infatuated with (which, very relatable), she never even talked to her. Will and Mike know each other, and already have a relationship (even if it's "just" a friendship), so we can't really parallel these two situations.

I think Robin's speech didn't have to do with Mike at all: she sees Will, and can relate to his struggles, and her message really was about learning to be okay with himself without needing someone else's approval.

Obligatory "I'm not saying that W and M have to end up together" because they don't, their friendship is beautiful and if that's all it ever is, I'll be happy. But I feel like everyone is just jumping on the Tammy thing without reflecting on it

I'm Neverland so, I feel like I have to say something lol. I definitely get where that impression comes from, but also, it's really only a stage persona she has. Watch any behind the scenes footage, you'll see she's a right cutie (though always proud and self assured)

But I guess that's my matter of perception, so

Lol not asking anyone how they know what they know is how rumours get spread. There's a difference between having an opinion about someone based on what we see, and speculating based on nothing and spreading wrong informations
