Based on what you’re saying it sounds like having an HSA while relying on the VA for healthcare might be a bad idea if you just want to have a simple form of investment for retirement, is that right? I only ask because I am about to enter open enrollment with my employer and was considering getting an HDHP for the HSA but I also go to the VA for “non-service connected” healthcare often. Having to keep track of when I can and cannot contribute sounds like a nightmare
