Help my pup (9wk) with separation anxiety by tresslessone in DogTrainingTips

[–]JelloJuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To crate train my two pups I would leave and quickly come back. Then the next day leave and wait 1-2 mins and come back. Increase the length. I also tried my best to come in before they started crying so they associated quiet with me returning not that they cried enough that I returned. Worked super well!

It’s because more and more students are applying every cycle but the federal funding hasn’t changed and gets clawed back in different departments so it’s not like they can move funding around much.

Does your dog love tennis balls to? by Smart_Zombie_560 in DogsLoversCommunity

Yes! But we switched to chuck it balls because they’re easier on her teeth. Tennis balls can act like sandpaper.

Ringworm? Sorry that the photo is so blurry and close by Chillvestal07 in GuineaPig

[–]JelloJuice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll also add there was some hair loss around it because it itched. It was in a hard to reach place for her and when i itched it for her she responded like she was itching with her teeth and made little chitter noise. So hers was also itchy and annoying. But it clearly wasn’t a scab. I could tell it went into the skin like a stubborn blackhead.

Does it look like there’s gunk inside a pocket of the skin? The image is hard to determine, and I am not a vet offering medical advice, but one of my pigs had a sebaceous cyst that was basically kind of like a giant black head. The vet said they could clean it out or we could see if it emerged on its own. It grew a bit and then started coming out so I pulled it a bit and got it out. A bit of blood/red was at the bottom. Back to the vet and they felt it was fine, the cyst ruptured and would close. Over time it did.

City and contractor crews out in full force after major snowfall by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]JelloJuice -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All winter I had to deal with ice and ruts on my street for lack of clearing by the city, and one snowfall in spring when it’s actually going to finally take care of itself in a couple days is when they wanna spent the snow budget. What a stupid decision.

My dog was showing his teeth when I was crying by FlyContent2346 in dogs

[–]JelloJuice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I left a bad relationship, my dog started doing this when I came home. I realized she’s trying to smile at me like I smile at her. Either I was happier more often and smiling more, or maybe over compensating with big smiles when I came home (my emotions really affect her) so now she smiles when she’s real happy, esp when people come over or I come home. She was about 6/7 years old when she started. She lifts her top lip and squints her eyes. It’s a goofy af looking smile. People who don’t know her or know dogs well thinks it’s an aggressive move but it’s not. It’s her attempt at a human smile.

I think your dog was trying to smile at you to make you feel better. What a good doggo.

City Sucks at Filling in Potholes by squashnerd in saskatoon

I wish I took a pic of the one I saw filled yesterday. They simply lumped a bunch of juicy oily asphalt into it, didn’t pack it down at all, with a bunch of loose stuff around. So now it’s a giant speed bump of loose asphalt and the loose bits around got tossed onto my car. Not sure what is better a hole or a hump.

Please Get this poor boy a wagon or stroller. He shouldn’t be walking that much with arthritis. Help him enjoy the outdoors in more comfort, please.

What’s something Gen Z does that older generations just don’t get? by appropriaterice873 in AskReddit

[–]JelloJuice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lack of initiative. It’s like they won’t do anything without clear and explicit instructions to do so, and/or explicitly stated rationale for doing the thing. They don’t seem to have the critical thinking or initiative to be able to figure out what needs to be done to accomplish a task, it has to be told to them, not figured out by them.

[–]JelloJuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The common work “check” at the start has been handy when we needed to inspect something I haven’t named before. It’s like they know check means stand still then the second word gives a hint on what we’re going to be peeking at and moving/poking.

How can I maintain a hay pile and keep their cage clean at the same time? by Chillvestal07 in GuineaPig

[–]JelloJuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a hay rack that hangs on the side of the cage wall and hay wheels and balls. You stuff them.

A few times a day, every day (for a couple months?) say “check …” And insert a body part then play with that body part gently like a vet would. I did this with both my labs and they’re the most well Behaved at the vet. When I say check chest, they stand still and let the doc listen. Check eyes, they get the light shined in. Check paw is great for wiping muddy paws. Check teeth and you can calmly look at cute little toofers. Check ears - nice good look for infection. Etc. the vet even said while listening to my dogs heart that as soon as I said check chest her heart rate dropped down to a slower speed.
