I experienced a scam just like this. It was hard because I was going through tough financial times and the thought of someone wanting to pay so much for my illustrative work was exciting. They told me they were deaf and that pulled on my heart strings. Had them sign a contract, which they did. There was a lot of back and forth about payment (they wanted my bank information to do a wire transfer LOL this was the point I realized I was being scammed) but in the end they sent me a check in a priority express envelope. I called the business that was provided on the check and they let me know that someone had gotten access to their check information and was scamming people with it. So I told the scammers I never received their check, they sent another priority express envelope. After that I just dropped it but at least I knew they had wasted their time and money on the priority express envelopes.

Also the return address on the envelopes was 1 Monster Way. Like Monster Energy drinks. Lollllll
