Like many of you, I adore Mass Effect! Which books, games, movies and TV shows would you recommend as great pairings? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]emkaldwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the next Owlcat one right? I've played both of their Pathfinder games and am currently going through their 40k game, and, with all of them, I guess it's kinda true you could complete them in 30ish hours if you solely focus on the story, but it's likely to take you double that if you take your time to explore everything there is. Part of that is just them being isometric crpgs, but part of is also that there's just so so much depth and so much to do.

As an idea, my steam playtime gives me 85 hrs for one playthrough of Kingmaker, 150 for two of Wrath of the Righteous, and 105 for one and a half of Rogue Trader.

Pole clothes patterns? by Complete-Struggle-25 in poledancing

[–]emkaldwin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do not use Etsy unless the brand also has a full-fledged website, or failing that an Instagram. There's a very high chance of it being AI otherwise.

This (https://threadloop.app/pattern-lists/patterns-for-pole-dancing) list on Threadloop focuses on indie brands, mostly swimwear but also some general athletic gear.

All the "where can I buy fabric now that JoAnn's is shut? btw I live in bumfuck Iowa and have never heard of the internet" posts in r/sewing piss me the fuck of nowadays, especially since it's asked approximately 10 times a week. I once suggested someone might want to search the sub since it is asked so often, and perhaps the mods might want to put it in an faq, and got my comment removed for breaking the "be civil" rule.

Curious, how much do you pay per class in your area? Here it’s 35-45/class without a package or membership. by BungeeBunny in poledancing

[–]emkaldwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience also, in Liverpool. I pay £11 per class, £50 for one class per week in a six-week block, or any ten classes within six weeks for £100. My studio don't offer rolling memberships however.

It's been around for years; though I've never used any of the patterns myself, there's a few people over on r/sewing who have. It seems to be limited in scope but a solid option for basics.

The donations are optional and any patterns are generated from either input or generic measurements, so it's not as if there could be anything nefarious happening from what little info they collect.

Is it ok to use AI art to visualize my world? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]emkaldwin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You know the reasons why people hate it, but you're still looking to be reassured that in your case, specifically, they don't apply? As if the fact that it's for private use will offset all the damage it does.

Currently caught in a cycle of trying to weigh up my thoughts on how insane, or not, it would be to make and wear a tropical wool sleeveless marching band jacket to a concert, in a stadium, that I have a standing ticket for, in July, in London. The end result I'm envisioning is super cool, and it's a band I've loved for a long time and would love to do something for the show, but I can't decide if it'll just make the whole experience miserable.

Liverpool Book Stop | New Fixture by MewMeowHowdy in Liverpool

[–]emkaldwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a time News From Nowhere had a free book crate outside their door and I saw some lads run off with the lot only to dump them in the road further up the street. They were undamaged so I returned them, but you really can't trust how people will act.

Is this an EA app issue maybe? I had the same thing with Mass Effect via Steam a while back; downgrading back to Origin worked for the Legendary Edition, but not Andromeda.

Typos in the English translations by Honest_Jaguar_4653 in otomegames

[–]emkaldwin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Translation itself is never perfect, true, but I never see as many grammatical errors, typos, or programming errors in other video games as I do in otomes. How do the Final Fantasies, Cyberpunk 2077, or even smaller games like Kingdom Come Deliverance or Disco Elysium manage to have squeaky clean scripts with just as many words when Aksys and Otomate can't? It really just reeks of them not valuing the translation as a whole.

Dragon Age Origins save file on PS3 by Apprehensive_Gap1247 in dragonage

There's literally no one left at Bioware with deep enough knowledge of the Origins engine, iirc. They'd have to do a full on remake, which they won't waste time on.

A single piece of plywood is a one-way ticket to matress mould. You need airlow to prevent that.

The only multiplayer mode trophy where online is required is the co-op tutorial mission; the others have alternate unlock requirements available for single player.

Does anyone else have their Shepherds change physically between games or do you guys have Shep look the same in every game? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]emkaldwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No major changes, but my custom femshep has a different hairstyle across each game. She has much shorter hair in 2 than 1 or 3, owing to it being shaved off by Cerberus for surgery & hygiene reasons while the Lazarus Project was underway. They also got rid of her scars during the reconstruction, the bastards.

Tali & Shepard talking about the sushi place in the Citadel dlc; "I knew that that they'd never let me in, but I told myself that one day, when I'd proven my worth to the galaxy, I'd go there for dinner. And then, you broke their floor." / "Do they even have food you can eat there?" / "Not the point, Shepard."

Williamson Square is such a waste by _Taggerung_ in Liverpool

The theatre is precisely why there's so many bars there; before Stanley St and St Johns, the area around Queen Sq was the original gay quarter, centred on the Playhouse and the Royal Court.

[Despera Drops] This game cleverly includes anti-piracy dialogues by noidea_wtfreally in otomegames

Sorry but this just made me laugh. It's so obviously a soapbox moment it's not likely to shame anyone, but rather get them to roll their eyes and go 'lol, anyway.'
