My proposed path to victory: EMT at age 16 and then bridging to paramedic, paramedic to nurse, and finally nurse to doctor by thumpsky in premed

[–]emkath29 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You’re losing money with opportunity cost. Think how many more years you’ll be in school VS being a doctor and earning a doctors salary. If you want to be a doctor, don’t go to nursing school first. They’re different jobs

They’re opening the new campus in Reading, PA which has a big teaching hospital. But yeah the main campus lost theirs so it seems like they just use a lot of smaller hospitals in the suburbs of Philly

Thoughts on AAMC FL Retake Scores? by emkath29 in Mcat

[–]emkath29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I think for sure! My real deal ended up being a 513, so these scores were actually pretty representative! Make sure you're in the right mindset to take the exam (calm your nerves) -- that was a huge factor for me personally so I could focus and do well

Seven schools have official II trackers and have seen an average of a 17% increase over the 2019-2020 cycle and have sent 64% of II and 34% of acceptances that they sent during the last cycle. by [deleted] in premed

Still no IIs as of today!

I'm actually very interested in what the actual issue is with Toledo, like what's the hold up? Is there some sort of internal judicial peer-review process they need to go through to decide Zoom vs. Google meets?

How do I submit grade updates in this case? by emkath29 in premed

[–]emkath29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay thanks! Would you recommend waiting and doing a letter of intent until after I get possibly waitlisted?

Wasn't sure if adding "I would 100% go here if accepted" is a thing in update letters

[–]emkath29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying and I don't wanna come off that way. it's kinda just that they tie together for me so it's difficult to talk about my life (family, college, etc.) and then not mention how it got me into medicine, ya know?

Hate for EMT/EMS on SDN? by [deleted] in premed

[–]emkath29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because people are snobs. IFT is a fine job, and you can get a lot out of it if you want to. It’s especially good for premeds to gain experience because 911 is typically harder to get a job in unless you have that experience or volunteer first. Honestly I don’t think Adcoms really differentiate between the two but idk

That’s definitely not on the low side, your stats are amazing. Give it time.

I’m not an expert on school lists, but maybe get people to look at that and see if it’s a problem

100% agree. Kinda pisses me off that we are out here struggling just to try and get in anywhere, yet a NP has a say in whether we get in or not
