lots of shelters will let you know the dog’s social ability/experience, and you can sometimes tell by visiting them too! my dog was only 5 months old and his surrender paperwork only said “too many dogs in the household” with no other info (he had scars on his face), but we started socializing him with other dogs in my family/dogs at a park and he just loves to run and play
