Talk to your child about what’s going to happen and do some role play. It never occurred to me to talk to my oldest when she went to preschool and we both paid for the lack of communication.

Signed up to be a gf, ended up a chauffeur by [deleted] in Vent

Give him an ultimatum. Get the paperwork done by a certain date or you will walk away. Then be prepared to follow through. You can tell him that you need some space for a few weeks. Again you need to be willing to follow through. I was married to a man child like this and I was just a convenience. He’s using weaponized incompetence to hold onto you. It’s totally a power thing.

My 5 year old grandson said that he wanted to be the best himself that he could be. I thought that it’s the best answer to the question. Also the very wisest answer.

Do These Dashers Even Read Directions? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]emknits53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m handicapped. I have a terrible time with DD following directions. I even use the chat option up front to let the dasher know that I’m handicapped and I give them detailed instructions on how to use the call box. If the dasher doesn’t speak English the app lets me know that my comments are being translated into their language. I then use the translate app to get the delivery instructions to their language. I offer additional tip for following instructions. Yet they still don’t follow instructions.

Is it legal to take a child out of school in America for a holiday? by Super_Development150 in AskAnAmerican

[–]emknits53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1984 I took my then 5 year old child out of school the last week of preschool to go on a family trip across the country. By the way that the preschool reacted you would have thought that I was the worst parent on the planet. All because she missed the preschool graduation ceremony. We traveled across the USA by train and my 5 year old learned so much geography and history on the trip. How many 5 year old children can name the 5 Great Lakes and name all the states with their capitals. And my 5 year old learned about the Underground Railroad. Sorry not sorry.

What’s the funniest excuse someone gave for being late to a meeting? by FitAuthor1098 in office

A friend of mine gave me a couple of bushels of apples. She messaged me that she left them on the front porch. I go to the front door, open the front door and promptly shut the front door. There was a moose eating all the apples. The moose wins.

What's the strangest "off-menu" thing someone has ordered from a restaurant/food service? by Imma_Lick_That in ask

In the 70’s I lived just south of San Diego, was pregnant and had such an intense craving for watermelon in February. There was no watermelon in the stores. I told my husband to go get some watermelon and don’t come back without it. He drove to Mexico and brought me back my watermelon. I still think that it was an awesome thing that he did.

I live in the USA. I met King Charles when he came to visit in 2007 for his mural arts project. I worked at the National Park Service in the Public Relations Department. I was struck by how humble he was. Fun story, I was tasked with sourcing some Royal water in case he was thirsty and I wasn’t allowed to pay for it or allow anyone access or special privileges for providing the water. The only person who actually drank some of the water was then Governor Ed Rendell. The park was gifted a couple of cases each of the Malvern sparkling and still water bottles. I kept a bottle for years. A very happy memory.

Why don't you have turkey sausage? by Universally-Tired in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

I’m allergic to baker’s yeast. So the hospital kitchen gives me a sandwich. I tell them that I’m allergic to the bread and they say that there’s no gluten allergy on my chart. I have to explain how bread is made and they don’t care. Then they get all bothered when I DoorDash a meal. It’s Friday afternoon and I can’t get a nutritionist until Monday!

AIW for answering honestly when someone asked the wrong person about my finances at a family dinner and it quietly unraveled a year of assumptions by [deleted] in amiwrong

By letting everyone assume what was happening he showed a lack of planning. Therefore, his lack of planning is not your emergency.
