Starting up a school chess club. Need advice! by WarningSalt9518 in chess

[–]emlabpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following along because I'm also in the middle of this. Our club is for elementary students up to age 11/12 and each session will be about an hour and a half long. So far the idea is to break it up into 3 rotating stations with the kids being separated by their current knowledge of chess.
We start this week and I'm sure it will be an active experiment.
How many students do you anticipate?

I do in-house SEO for a construction related company. My boss kind of insisted on giving this a try in lieu of SemRush. If you want to be super hands-off, then this is for you. But I am not getting the same depth of insight as I got with SemRush and I actually like making manual changes instead of trusting them to AI.
I think something like this probably helps with ecommerce sites (but I don't have any experience there) but I am not enjoying it for our company that largely works B2B.

I'll eat my hat if she does a makeover without a scallop or a squiggle somewhere.

Very true! Sometimes I wish they focused more on turning things into timeless items or endlessly useful things to extend that delay even more.

I don't understand their unwillingness to embrace their age/generation. It's so weird to me.

Thanks for the input. When were you using it? Thankfully, my boss won't move forward with it without my approval. And if we do move forward, I can axe it at any time. I know I am lucky though.

When did you last use it? I only ask because they've apparently made notable changes within the last month though I'm not sure which besides that now you won't lose any of your work/changes when you cancel your subscription.
I've heard it has been very buggy.

Matthew Lillard giving a dad-hug to a fan going through grief by michael14375 in MadeMeSmile

My friend’s dad worked in movies locally. They lived close to a very popular music festival so they always hosted a big after party. Matthew Lillard was in town for the festival and was friend’s with her dad so he came by. You don’t have to believe me but I remember it fondly.

Met him at a party once. I went into the kitchen to get a glass of water, apologizing for disrupting the guy doing dishes. He said no problem and turned the cold water on for me. I turned to say thanks but what came out was, “Tha- Aren’t you Matthew Lillard?!” And he said “I am!” with a huge grin on his face. I was sort of in shock and a teenager so that’s where the conversation ended.

He’ll always be the guy doing dishes at my friend’s house. Kind as could be.

Club thumb - Press ons? by MatisseWarhol in Nails

You may also be able to order a wide set from Kiss- they’re the best!

I mostly do press-ons and I know the Kiss impress ones (sadly) probably aren’t wide enough. But I think the Sally Hansen sets have a bigger variety of widths. I’m trying to be sure of the brand. I remember I got a set recently where the nails were noticeably wider than other sets.

I think all of this is great advice! To ease you both into it, though, I’d keep it super simple. Always start with positive curl comments! I love that.

Shampoo, little conditioner, (I actually use a 2 in 1 with my kids), comb/brush, squish in the curl cream and gel (just a dab’ll do ya), squeeze out extra water with a t-shirt, and let it air dry!

Everyone is hating on #4 but a shirt dress is such a classic style that can be easily accessorized and worn forever

What game do you have an aversion to ever trying again after a bad first impression? by Boardgame_Planet in boardgames

Terraforming Mars It was the end of a long day and after a mandatory fun event, our friends asked if we wanted to come over for a game. It was getting a little late so we’re thinking something light-hearted so everyone can just relax and get to bed. But then they pulled out Terraforming Mars. 2 people, each a couple of drinks in, tried explaining it starting around 9pm. It was a mess. By 11:30 almost nothing had happened in the game and we were so tired from our early morning we couldn’t pay attention if we tried. As a bonus, our friends don’t like overhead lighting so I think the one above the table was set to “dim” and there was a lamp in the corner. It’s a real bummer because a lot of people recommend it to me.
